Non-functioning Volume Keys

I've had my SPV for a week or so and I've learned pretty quick that 'powered by microsoft' should actually read 'don't press the wrong button or i'll break'.

After much learning through the forum here (you guys rock by the way), I've got everything set up pretty much how I want it, or at least how it should have been when I bought it. I can't imagine using it 'as standard' for any period of time...

Anyway, after some messing around in the registry setting up the MRU and start menu, and some other tweaks fromh a thread here, I noticed my Volume keys don't work any more. The keypress is recognised (it clicks) so its not a hardware problem but nothing actually happens onscreen.

Does anyone know what I might have accidentally changed? I've tried retracing my steps but it doesn't seem to be anything I've done on purpose...

Oh, and can anyone explain what that '1' means next to the battery meter?

Cheers,

Rich.

The 1 is line 1 - your main number. Orange do allow 2 numbers on one phone.

As to the volume keys - no idea sorry

Select values and click on volume to edit value data.

2 Bars,  Volume=1717986918

3 Bars,  Volume=2576980377

Ah, the 1 now makes sense... I should really have read the booklet more thoroughly

As for the volume thing, that reg value just sets the present volume, I still can't use the volume keys.

Thanks anyway though, at least it makes my phone usable (it was stuck on level 1).

Anyone else got any ideas?

Cheers,

Rich

Its pretty windy today... that'll shave at least 10mph off my crappy little bike's max speed :D

If you played with extra screens or VoiceRec button setup then:

open regedit, goto:

HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:VolDlg

Now tell me what value names and data you have under that key.

Especially for the BKBitmapFile value. Default should read 'volume.gif' (no '' ofcourse)

Also I would try to change language in regional settings (keymap business).

I am pretty sure you have tried power off/on a hundred times...

Sorted, thanks mate. There was a skinned volume gif file that no longer exists so I replaced with just 'volume.gif' and its fine..

And yeah, the power has been on and off a lot recently, I've been in exams a lot and have only just recently found out about the 'radio off' option. Never trust 'silent' mode when the next few years of your life may be affected by your phone ringing..!

Thanks again

Rich.
