Guest zubo Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Hi This probably should be in the help wanted forum so sorry. I downloaded both versions of pockettv - the enterprise version as a trial from handango. I have adequate space in both the phone and the card and tried installing in both and get the same problem. Downloaded the 'personal' version: my phone is fully unlocked - I have a number of unregistered apps etc working ok. When it asks me for instal details it shows the phone with 1067bytes free and pockettv needs674bytes. I choose the phone but install fails because The program or setting cannot be installed because it doesnt have adequate system permissions" ptv team suggest my phone is not unlocked, i think it is especially since I m on Vodafone network. So my question is can anybody suggest what this means and probably more important - how can i test if my phone IS fully unlocked tia
Guest Richie M Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Yep, sounds like you need to de-cert (confusingly some people call it unlock(ing)) your. There are loadsa threads in Help or Articles concerning this, i would usually suggest using the Orange OTA method but as your not on O i dont think it'll work. The easiest way to see if your phone is already decerted is to download any freeware or CAB and try installing it (download something from Software or Customisation).
Guest Lojt Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Downloaded the 'personal' version: my phone is fully unlocked - I have a number of unregistered apps etc working ok. Seems like his phone is unlocked. You should check your 'IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall' folder and delete any files there.
Guest zubo Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Yes, I have successfully installed a number of apps using cab files. A couple, very few maybe 1-2, of others I had identical problems. I checked IPSMWindowsAppMgr - there was nothing in there - no Install folder so I tried from Explorer on my notebook creating one but it didnt create it. Tried using phone's smart explorer and there was lots in there including install folder. but that was empty, but mpegtv folder was there so killed that, tried reinstall but same error. Incidentally there are other folders here for apps which I have tried and uninstalled - can I delete these too??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 To view the Install folder in IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall you have to use a file explorer on the phone as Activsync will not see the folder.
Guest zubo Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Yes I figured out activesync will not show it, but anyone know why the following still did not work, and what about my secondary question? tia Tried using phone's http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=55367>Smart Explorer and there was lots in there including install folder. but that was empty, but mpegtv folder was there so killed that, tried reinstall but same error. Guest awarner [MVP] Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 If you are sure you have deleted them correctly then they should be safe to remove.
