Device locking problem

Hi All

Can anyone help me with how to undo the device locking option.

I put a device lock password onto my handset, now I want to remove it but every time I go to Settings , Security, Disable phone lock, it will jump immediately back to the home screen. After a period of inactivity the handset will device lock again.

I am sure it used to ask you to confirm the password if you wanted to disable the lock which it is not now doing.

Try pressing the back button to return you to the Security menu.

Some phones a while back were reported to do this every time they went into the Security options.

Thanks that did the job, it also does the same if you try and set the password. I originally set the password by using the options from pressing the power button, so I only got to see the problem when I came to unlock.

Any idea to why it would do this in the first place, just seems like a very quick timeout back to the home screen, but only for the security setting. You can see it flash up the password box very quickly before the home screen comes up.
