Guest FrankyG Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 A few times now I have been told that people have rung me, it (to them) sounds like it's ringing and then they are diverted to anserphone. I KNOW that when they have called, I was sitting watching TV, phone beside me with full SS, yet the phone doesn't ring. There are also no missed calls :?: What gives :!: :?: Anyone else? I missed last weeks Grand Prix cos of this  FrankyG
Guest Simon Desser Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 There's two explanations that I can think of which could POSSIBLY cause this to happen. Firstly, (mainly pre major UK update) I've seen the phone get so low on memory, mainly after playing powerful games and not using a task manager to close applications, that the phone can't even spring into life when a call comes in. I've tested it back in December, and got it to do that lots of times, and as you say, as far as the caller is concerned, they hear the "ringing" tone. Since the update, and using Task Manager before and after playing games and watching videos etc. it hasn't been a problem. Secondly, you're phone can show "full signal" when in fact it's nothing like that, quite simply because it "locks" onto whatever signal you had when you were last using GPRS, until you make a voice call  See my thread about this (which no one else really seems to be bothered about :?: )
Guest paddy_mcnulty Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Yeah, I've had similar problems but didn't know why. I only found this out after bumping into an old friend, I gave them my number so they thought they would just ring me so my phone could registar theirs. As i was sitting there next to them, full signal etc it should have been no problem. They rang, they heard ring tone, my phone just did nothing, just sat being boring. I don't htink I had lots of things up and running. Bt maybe I need a Task Manager. I apologise if I appear a dense here but is there one on the phone after the update? I got my phone 6 weeks ago so will have updated phone. If not, where do get one? Cheers Paddy
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 An ~active~ GPRS session (eg downloading a webpage) will force the call to not be answered, due to the emulated type-B GPRS class implemented on SmartPhone. A pain in the arse, but not a lot you can do about it unfortunately
Guest FrankyG Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Paddy, Orange Update HERE, but there is no Task Manager on the phone after the update. You do get free unlimited GPRS access for life though. Thanks for the suggestions; I suppose the phone could have been low on memory, but it's not the first time this has happened. I think it's one of 'those things' with the SPV... [EDIT] Forgot to mention you can unlock your SPV HERE FrankyG ps I doth Jest about the free GPRS
