What ever happened to the guy who was writing the Notes app that included a conduit to sync with outlook? There was another website (I forget which) that had screenshots and everything. But the author wanted to remain anonymous as not to be bothered with questions so he could finish the project.

BETA: Syncdata is looking for SmartphoneNotes Beta testers

Posted by Arne Hess @ 24 Jun 2003 at 10:49 CET under News.

Giuseppe, head of Syncdata and the maker of SmartphoneNotes, asked in the newsgroups for your support:

Are you interested in testing an application to synchronize Microsoft Outlook text notes with the Orange SPV? If you are, please send your name and email address to:

smartphonenotes.beta(at)syncdata.it

Don't forget to specify which:

Desktop OS Windows version (supported: 98/Me/2000/XP)

Microsoft Outlook version (supported: 2000 and 2002/XP, should work with the latest 2003 betas)

ActiveSync version (3.6 or 3.7)

you are currently using and want to use for the tests.

For the Beta testing, Giuseppe is looking for users with a certification locked SPV only!

Please also note that this application is compatible with the Orange SPV only, other phones are not supported (in fact,

most likely synchronization won't work at all on other phones).

The test protocol is very simple and will just require a couple of hours. We will give a registered copy of the software to all enrolled testers.

Giuseppe Govi

Syncdata

So this is your chance to get your hands on one of the most exciting Smartphone application! But why is Giuseppe looking for certification locked phones only? The reason is pretty simple, while there are a lot of folks out there with decertified devices who already tested it, certifying the software is the most critical part and it's not only the device certification itself but also the ActiveSync provider certification. To make sure it will really works on all Orange SPVs, doesn't matter if certified or decertified, Syncdata needs your support! So please only reply for the Beta if your SPV isn't decertified!

Cheers ~ Arne
