Guest warren Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Guys i thought it may be of some use to create a poll to see if there is a demand for Flash on the smartphone platform Currently the economics for a 'Flash Player' do not bode well for smartphone but then again the SPV etc is in a highly competitive market and perhaps a flash player could be a great competitive edge. Tell us what you think.
Guest warren Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 By the way guys dont let my good looks put you off posting!!!! Here are some links on the subject supplied by some guys on the macromedia flash mailing list. May be of interest to the developers here perhaps http://www.actimagine.com/Mobiclip/ http://www.antmobile.com/ http://www.flashthefuture.com/ http://www.mikekrisher.com/ http://www.pocketpcflash.net/homefs.htm http://www.flashenabled.com/ http://www.handsmart.com/
Guest nickcornaglia Posted June 20, 2003 Report Posted June 20, 2003 Why would I be put off by a good looking guy like yourself? Your looks aren't intimidating. I vote YES for Flash! Even if it is alittle slow on the SmartPhone.
Guest JabbaTheSlut Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 shockwave would be cool too, but not i think thats asking a bit much!!!!!!!!
Guest midnight Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 i dont think its too much to ask at all, some of these demo's work on smartphone.... check these out they use a convertor from sharp-software this means all you need to do is adapt your shockwave content to only use 176 x 220 (or create it at 200 x 320, but only use the top 176 x 220 area)
Guest dan_small Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 currently i'd say the data transfer rate is too slow for flash to be of much use / fun - however, this transfer rate will surely get faster in the next 5/10 years. if the manufactures still want us to be using thier product they're gonna have to introduce it eventually, so why not sooner rather than later. as far as i can tell it's not even something they're really considering. this would be a massive mistake. flash is a part of the internet and if you're providing mobile internet access, you can't just ignore it. someone else will incorporate it and we'll all be sitting there in ten years time with their product, not the smartphone.
