Guest jscotl Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 It is my understanding that if I wish to run certain programs, then my SPV needs to be un-locked. When I visit the orange site covering the OTA process, it talks as if I'm a developer - I'm not, just a user. If I follow this process, will the SPV re-lock at a later stage? Do I need to try and certify a program I'm downloaded, not developed personally? Does un-locking impact Orange Support of the fone ? I get the impression that this is something I should do :?: Also, can programs get installed directly to an SD Card, or should then be installed to the fone. And therefore, the SD Card will only be used for data storage. eg. pix, tunes, movies  As always, thanks

If I follow this process, will the SPV re-lock at a later stage? Do I need to try and certify a program I'm downloaded, not developed personally? :oops:It shouldn't relock (mine never did). You won't need to develop/certify anything. Does un-locking impact Orange Support of the fone ? Not really. In fact not at all. You can always return phone to out-of-the-box state if you wish (see hard reset) I get the impression that this is something I should do :?:Definitely a MUST DO!! Then go and get yourself Task Manager and Smart Explorer and see other cool soft at www.monolithix.org Also, can programs get installed directly to an SD Card, or should then be installed to the fone. And therefore, the SD Card will only be used for data storage. eg. pix, tunes, movies  The best is to install all soft and especially games to SD to save phone space and prevent it from slowing down. The only soft I suggest you have on the phone is Task Manager and Smart Explorer (and maybe IA Album to take pics to other SDs than the default one you use) PS: Moved to Help&Advise
Guest lisann Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I know how you feel... but really it isnt that daunting. Unlocking my fone was the best thing I ever did. And no mine has never locked back again either.
