I just can't get the spv to receive a Contact beamed over IR from another phone.

So far I've tried tens of times, I know that i've got the settings right (like, there aren't any...) and my spv says - searching for device (i'm paraphrasing), but never succeeds

anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Well it's not certain that your SPV can communicate with everyother phone. And as for receiving contacts, I'm fairly sure that wont work... they probably use very different ways of defining a contact... so I'm afraid you are out of luck there!

The SPV has been reported to work (IR) with certain Nokia phones, so which model did you try to communicate with!?

i don't thin ( ) compatibility is the issue - I've got it to work twice! - but that's twice out of about 30 attempts...

(with a nokia 8310 and a couple others whose number escapes me...)

o well, not a big deal in the schema of things

I believe copying contacts from a lesser model like 8310 to Smartphone won't work. You see it it has something to do with OS. Nokia works on Symbian OS while smartphone works on windows, so only phones with this kind of high tech OS will be able to communicate to each other. I have tried and successfully beamed contacs and images from 3650 and 7650 to the SAP. I think the format of the contacts of the 3650 and 7650are different from the 8310.

I tried to receive some files, first from a Nokia 7110 (I think!) and a Toshiba laptop with Windows XP. I managed to send contacts to both of them, but couldn't recieve anything back! The laptop recognised the phone straight away but then came up with the phrase (again I'm doing this from memory) 'the smartphone is actively refusing this file'. I tried to send a contact and a music file from the laptop and got that phrase both times.

Any ideas?
