Guest Floydian1 Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 After causing some confusion in Dixons & Sony shop today by turning off all their tv's with my Nokia3650  my fiancee would like to have something similier for her Orange SPV. Are there any ir remote apps for the SPV :?:
Guest gspacedboy Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Does this mean that it can't be done or it just hasn't been done yet!
Guest NederSoren Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 do a search, and im sure you'll find the awnser..
Guest James Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 when i was young i used to changed the tvs in shop windows up town wit one of those one for all remotes... sad!
Guest Gorskar Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 It *may* be possible, we don't know. If it is possible it wouldn't be easy, because there is no standard API for sending CIR signals via the IR port, meaning it would take some very clever programing to get around that I think. The other problem is we are still unsure how powerful the SPV's IR diode is. If it can only reach 20cm then it is not much good, (although I suppose it would eb possible to replace it with a higher power IR Diode).
Guest goinnuts Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 microsoft said (at spv launch training) 1 metre with a 30 degree allowence.
Guest madu Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 that's good enough i reckon! even if it was 20cm I wouldn't mind as long as my mind knew the software is there
Guest midnight Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 1m is terrible, my tv is like, 4-5 meters away, 1meter is pretty useless, and practically within reaching distance. but yeh, this has been discussed in great detail before
Guest v_patel1 Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 im not bothered about the distance its just a lil toy to play with
Guest midnight Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 grab the insanity test then, thats the greatest toy ever hehe
Guest fraser Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Although IrDA has a range of a metre, you might find that if someone was able to figure out CIR for SPV, it may have a longer range. It's a much slower protocol I believe, so it should give you a little extra distance. But the CIR problem has still to be cracked.
Guest iMsam Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 i am not happy reading this... this is one of my waiting list... hope this will change
Guest madu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Infrared Remote issue seems to be all over the place  Let's continue here: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=21966
