Guest ContactBot Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Software update version 1.50 for Orange SPV for users in Switzerland (non-E.U. Europe), is available . It is not clear whether this update would work with SPV phones from other countries, and of course Orange strongly advise against installing updates from other territories. News Source: msmobiles.com
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 In the interest of research, I am currently installing this on my (non Orange) phone... P
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Initial impressions: - NO UK ENGLISH LANGUAGE! - Faster Menus - Still no fully working SMS counter - MMS client still buggy - IMAP4 delete still doesn't work for me More thoughs to follow  P
Guest morpheus2702 Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Oh whoopee, so nothing that a registry mod can't do already! Maybe the kid off the Orange trainer advert wrote it...
Guest Simon Desser Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 "]Initial impressions: - NO UK ENGLISH LANGUAGE! - Faster Menus - Still no fully working SMS counter - MMS client still buggy - IMAP4 delete still doesn't work for me More thoughs to follow  P I'm confused :? Mines all still in "UK English" :?: Apart from the SMS counter that only works if you type the number in (rather than select a contact) I can't find anything different  Have I done something wrong :?:ROM Update.jpg
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Ah, I did a hard reset after installing that blew away the IPSM, guess you didn't? P
Guest StoutMan Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 So do u advise downloading and installing it or just wait for the uk version. If you say install it, what are the advantages of the update other than a different number.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Current advice would be don't bother unless you are in the Swiss territory... P
Guest Simon Desser Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 what are the advantages of the update other than a different number. I wish I knew :? I cant see anything new other than an SMS counter that only works if you know the persons number off by heart  and a slightly quicker boot time. Maybe Paul knows some more :?:
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Drop to the bootloader screen, then run it (i.e. remove SD card, turn device on with memo and power button held, and hit the action button). P
Guest madu Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 What's that desktop mod you've got? [ps: and who's cheeky butt is that?]
Guest Martin@Home Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 What's that desktop mod you've got? [ps: and who's cheeky butt is that?] ...And is autocad2004 any good ?
Guest dmmh Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 haha, the skin is called Seer, by Xeon, grab it here image: http://home.concepts.nl/~pc101995/mod2.jpg update went fine btw, from Dutch 1.37 to English 1.50. Half the menus are in Dutch, the other half in English though lol. But its way more responsive, so Im cool with it.
Guest dmmh Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 ...And is autocad2004 any good ? it rocks
Guest Simon Desser Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Streaming radio works again without buffering! I've got at least a month to take advantage of it! EDIT:- Not sure about this now? It seems to buffer every 30 seconds instead of every 5
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 So far - touch wood - I have not had the dreaded freeze on dialling... when connecting to GPRS! If that bug alone is fixed, it is a worthy update! I also note that one of the default favourites is set to SmartPhony... interesting! P - Mobile MoDaCo
