I reckon SPV2 will be a Mitac, and if its delayed into Nov/Dec then perhaps running Smartphone 2003...

There are also rumors about a SPV2 - Tanager Style but with integrated camera and bluetooth.

I'm also wondering what the "smart phone" is. The conference is still on slide 35ish, and that page was from slide 70, so it's a long way away from talking about it.

Notice how it has no aerial! It seems like Samsung/Motorola...

Hmm, perhaps no need to upgrade to the Tanager in any hurry then. I'd happily keep my SPV until the end of the year and then go to the SPV 2...

BTW, does anyone forsee any s/w upgrade problems going from SmartPhone OS 2002 to 2003? I'd hate to think I had to start again on the s/w front... I'm assuming the answer is that it should be no problem, but hey - worth a thought.

spv 2 is rumoured to be a HTC device running Smartphone2003 (well, SP.next), and will feature integrated camera

All SPV software SHOULD work straight off on smartphone 2003. This is one of the major design decisions that microsoft has made so that Smartphone software should work on all devices for all versions of smartphone with 0 modifications.

Smartphone 2003 won't necessarily show a huge difference to the user, but it includes a large amount of restructuring that will allow developers to produce a lot better (and easier) stuff for the users to play with.

Heh, yeah. Listening on speakerphone via telephone - had a few questions lined up regarding SPV, but the operator said they won't be taking questions from telephone listeners

Yeah good point.

For the benefit of those who weren't watching, only two external companies were speaking at the conference.

Motorola's Chairman and CEO, Chris Galvin was there and spoke for a couple of minutes about Orange's "simple and intuitive" interface. He also was thanked a lot, and thanked Orange a lot for the "unique relationship" which they had formed.

Some special guy from Microsoft was also there, and didn't really mention the SPV, but did, again, thank Orange quite a bit...

What I'm looking for is an aerial free clamshell phone with a built in camera, which isn't around yet as far as I know.

But the built in camera is a must. I have the SPV and the camera attatchment is good but after using my brothers Sharp on Vodaphone the clamshell design with camera is the best way I think. Much neater and much more professional.

The two main options are the Mitac 8380 and the "smart phone" as in the picture, but I have no idea of what exactly it is...

Yeah I like the look of the Mitac, even though it is a little large, but I definitely want a built in camera.

The thing is I always wanted Nokia phones but like clamshells more but the Nokia thing was more important, until I got my SPV, now I won't buy a new phone unless it is SP2002/3, but now there is a clamshell design out in the Mitac or at least coming soon I would really want that because it is sort of ideal.
