From globe website:

Internet Browsing for Postpaid (eff. October 27, 2002) Modem P0.25/kB

WAP via GPRS Cellphone Surfing Free

how do we access WAP via GPRS? When we use Internet explorer to access websites (when my settings are set to automatic), is it internet browsing (0.25/kb) or WAP via GPRS? Can someone please explain this to us and how we can limit our internet browsing for free WAP over GPRS.

By the way, how much does smart charges for this, when using their sim cards?

thanks...

Use menu/properties to display page type.

WML pages requires WAP browser.

HTML pages requires internet browser.

Can someone please explain this to us and how we can limit our internet browsing for free WAP over GPRS.

In internet explorer, set 'Select Network=Wap Network' for access to WML pages only.

it depends on your settings. if you used internet.globe.com.ph as apn, you will get charged even if your just browsing wap pages only. change it to www.globe.com.ph.

then in pocket IE, change your http:/ prefix to wsp:/.

or you can download WebWAPSelect so that you won't need to use wsp://

I'm using Globe and I'm even using yahoo messenger on my phone and I'm not getting any charges

as long as it is browsing it is free, but once you download stuff there are charges.

wrong again! sorry man but WAP browsing and downloading (stuff other than the globe main wap site of course) via globe gprs is free. as long as your apn is www.globe.com.ph not internet.globe.com.ph which is used to browse full http pages.

smart charges to both WAP and HTTP (full internet) browsing/downloading. Just FYI!

No. Browsing is not free for Smart.

yup. WAP browsing is FREE on GLOBE.

GLOBE is one of our clients and we have contacts there that can confirm this.

the tricky thing here is even when you are just WAP browsing, but your apn (access point name) is internet.globe.com.ph, you will get charged.

Guys,

Can I view http's using globe gprs? is it free? If I choose automatic in data connection, how would I know that it's not Globe Dial-up (which is chargeable)?

Guest grifter

you can view http pages only if you set your APN to internet.globe.com.ph for internet browsing. however, you will be charged accordingly. the only thing that is free as of the moment is by using the APN www.globe.com.ph, but you can only view selected WAP sites.

It is more safe to select the connection type manually rather than leaving it in automatic.
