Guest Firaas Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 In Orange press conference today, they mentioned that the SPVe100 will contain a better OS, and that this will become available to SPV users soon. Not sure what improvements this contains, but I think it's reasonable to say that they're changing the homescreen layout(s) to become "simple and intuitive"... There's a couple of screenshots below. The main changes are: - "1 click to messages" - "1 click to address book" - "1 click to diary" - "1 click to call history" - "active link"Homescreen1.jpgHomescreen.jpg

Guest Firaas Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 "]That looks hideous in my opinion! Besides, is a new http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=714>homescreen really the answer to the general unintuitive UI for new SmartPhone users? There's not much they else they can do - their new plan for devices is to go "simple and intuitive", and this means making a phone aimed at geek-types like the Smartphone be easy to use for Joe Bloggs, like a Nokia. Most people only use their phone for phoning/texting, and if this can be done from the homescreen (which it can't on most phones) then it's simpler to do for Joe Bloggs. They also have two-line options, which means you can "write a new message" from the homescreen. It also seems (although this is completely my personal view based on one of the slides) that Line1 may be a one-click from homescreen option...
Guest madu Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 They better included a 'Take Picture' from homescreen! Duh!

Guest Firaas Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 Has there been a date set for the release of the software update? No, I would presume around or after the 7th of July.
Guest jamzi Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I emailed Orange yesterday and asked about the upgrade and when it was due out, this the response i got - Dear James Thank you for your mail. At this moment in time there is no information available on a possible second SPV update. Any information will be posted on our website www.orange.net when it becomes available. Kind regards Tristan Orange Customer Services
