Guest Goutetsuu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Hi looking for possible solutions for texting. Problem is when i'm texting i sometimes want to send my text to a different number under the same name of the person. Now when the phone comes up with the option to send your message to either an email or a mobile number, is it not possible to make the phone bring up all the numbers stored under a particular name whether it is a house number or a fax number etc Since nowadays people tend to have more than one mobile number so i put their extra numbers in the house or fax number fields. Is it possible to do a registry mod to have this sorted? Can anyone help?
Guest madu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 AFAIK if you enter the second mobile number from PC Outlook under 'Mobile 2' it syncs it just fine. Otherwise people use a solution of having 2 contacts for same person
Guest Goutetsuu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 ok cool never realised that, how many mobile numbers can you store and what version of outlook do you need
Guest madu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 I think it's just mobile and mobile2. Outlook 2000, XP
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Hmmm don't have mobile2 (or whatnot!) Was actually wondering the same! But of course I could use the second method with an extra contact...
Guest cybercamel Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 Ok, I give up! Where's the mobile 2 section in outlook? Can't find it anywhere!
Guest madu Posted June 25, 2003 Report Posted June 25, 2003 MY BAD! I read in a post (some time ago) that there IS mobile2 field, but having checked (and I have Outlook @ home only, so a bit late here) I can say I did NOT find it (Outlook XP). Appologies
Guest eureka8888 Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 put the other number as email, email2 email3, now you have 4 numbers for texting
Guest cybercamel Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 The simple answers are often the best! :) Although quite a lot of my contacts have multiple email addresses, this will work! ;)
Guest madu Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 put the other number as email, email2 email3, now you have 4 numbers for texting That's IT!!! My brain deceived me! :)
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 WOoHOo I for one feel like an eeedjit! It's so freaking obvious!!
Guest cybercamel Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Just found another work around, not as good as using the email address though ;) It doesn't matter where you put the other persons mobile number, whether in work, home or anywhere, if they text you, their mobile number will come up (or their name) and if you keep it in your inbox you'll be able to reply to that number without having to input it! Does that make sense? :)
