SPv on O2

I am thinking of buying a orange SPV but i dont want to use it with orange the phone is unlocked and he says it works but has told me you cant get the wap to work with 02 on it is this true???

There are no problems with getting WAP on O2 as I have a pre-pay SIM with WAP over GPRS and Internet via GSM. We have successfully set up the SPV up for both O2 contract and pre-pay . In fact the SPV is being used on networks around the world and I can't think of any problems with GSM and GPRS data connections - see GPRS settings.

BEWARE!. We have had a couple of people come to MoDaCo to say they have recently bought a phone from someone and the phone will no longer access the networks. Does the person you are buying the phone from have a SIM that is registered to that SPV with Orange.

Wouldn't they ?

An example:

1. The buyer takes the phone and put his SIM in it.

2. The seller puts his SIM and puts in another phone.

3. The seller loses his other phone and contacts Orange to BAR his SIM.

4. Orange BAR the sellers SIM.

5. Orange also BAR the IMEI registered to the sellers SIM (YOUR SPV).

This has happened in the past and there are a few topics on it.

I would ask the seller to have a word with Orange CS and find out if you can be listed as an authorised user of the SPV. It might save a lot of tears later :cry:

You could get the IMEI changed if you wanted to serve 5 years in jail :)
