T-Mobile GPRS!

After just having had our T-Mobile contracts activated, the first thing I did was ring them up to ask about GPRS...

I was told that they had a new structure, which allowed for 100mb for just £10/month - incredible!

This has now been officially confirmed - great alternative for when Orange decide to drop unlimited, eh?

T-Mobile have now launched their GPRS internet service with a very competitive flat charge of £10/month with a 100MB fair-use limit on data use. This is more than enough data for most users of mobile Internet and removes any risk of overspend, providing a viable alternative to subscribing to a dial-up home Internet connection.

Nice one :!:

This is just what we need, once one network moves in the right direction, then the others are likely to follw suit :)

Errrrr, that.... um, ROCKS!!!!

Jeez, looks like T-Mobile had better sort a decent smartphone out eh? Or I guess SIM unlocking the SPV, cancelling the Orange contract, setting up a T-Mobile contract with throw away phone and using it's SIM could solve the problem... :-D

BTW for the info of everyone here, this can be activated with any new voice/data pack when you go into a T-Mobile retail shop/dealer, and expires in October. However, the dealer we dealt with informed us that T-Mobile then plan to introduce a bundle which is significantly cheaper than the other networks...

The plan is called "Instant E-mail". It allows for "push email" on the P800, Blackberry, 3650 and 7650 - whereby email gets delivered to your phone automatically. E-mail is totally free and unlimited, and you get 100mb of internet in addition to that! I'm not sure what the T-Mobile GPRS service - or Push Email (Infowave Symmetry) is like, but I'll know when I get my P800 this evening :)

So this is a time limited offer, or do you just have to sign up by October?

Sign up by September, 100mb internet until October - not sure of their plans after that.

The offer is also available in Germany and the USA, so it seems they're pushing for GPRS usage...

Hmmmm, not perfect tho, since it is a time limited offer (like Orange's!).

Even I might be tempted to sign up otherwise :)

I have mailed by contacts in Orange to once again try and get an official response re: GPRS charging...

Can't find this on the T-Mobile site?

It's really an in-store thing, thus the site having such little info about it. Even the customer service staff are very unclued up about it...

Ring up any dealership though, they'll give you the facts :)

Under the Orange tariff match policy couldn't we just change to the Tmobile tariff and demand the GPRS access at the T Mobile rate?

No, since it's a promotional tarriff.

I was a late-comer to the party so I missed out on the original Orange £6 promotion. Seriously, how good was that offer? Given the bias the phone has towards data services, I think they were fcuking stupid to discontinue it, especially now T-Mobile have come up with this.

I was lucky enough to get my SPV in mid November, and I'm still on the promo till mid July, which means I've enjoyed 8 months of "unlimited" use :)

The offer (IMO) is excellent, it means you can send & receive emails as often as you like, send photo attachments etc. etc. and browse the internet as much as you like (restricted only by the phone's capabilities)

You were supposed to stick to a 10mb limit, but lots of people regularly ran up 50mb or more, without any problems ;)

And T-Mobile don't even have a own-brand smartphone to promote in the UK.

They HAVE to do something now!!!
