And I thought the keys on the SPV were a bit on the small and fiddly side that Treo 600 looks nigh on impossible for people without petite fingers.

According to this review the Treo 600 keyboard inputs faster than Graffiti and T9. MS watch out.

"In user testing for speed and accuracy, the Treo 600 performed on par with RIM's Blackberry keyboard and significantly faster than Graffiti and T-9, the text input method found in most mobile phones."

its all good, competition is always healthy, means that we'll hopefully see new phones with windows mobile2003 sooner rather than later to stay ahead (or at the very least keep up with) the market

my thought.... hmmm, treo, nah, no thanks, palm os has never impressed me, and those buttons are indeed tiny (and arent phones supposed to be for single handed use? bet thats a bit tricky on that device)

nokia 6600... looks like a redesigned 3650 with 65k colour screen

sx1... be serious, how the hell do you use that keypad (serious design flaw that even nokia realised with the 3650... hence 6600)

p810... could be good, only real serious threat as far as i see, but it really aint that much different to the p800, and this time doesnt look like you can remove the keypad, but that camera looks well smart 1.3 megapixel, lovely

8380 - big, ugly, expensive

Read the topic of the thread again

Siemens sucks for customer support. a m8 of mine bought the S55 with cam but cant get the synching software to work. emailed customer support after having spoken to someone on the phone. she told him to email her and all would be fixed. no response whatsoever, even after 6 emails. that seriously sucks imo. especially for a phone that is supposed to be targeted at business customers.

I hope so too...bar the fact that it still resembles a brick (i'll never understand designers), i think a 65k screen would pretty much complete the 'full' spec at this moment in time

yeh, the p810 does have a 65k colour screen, and its about half as thick as the p800

I like the look of that 6600. I dare say it's the only thing that would tempt me away from a smartphone.

Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to put the number keys on the SIDE of that Siemens phone!?!?!?? Surely someone at Siemens Mobile have picked up a 3650 and realised it's BAD BAD BAD to mess with the key layout?!?!?!?

Agreed...in all honesty the SX1 is a poor design - didnt make good use of the space they saved from putting the keypad down the sides (could of moved all the keys from the centre and made the screen bigger)!

Having said that it is a fully featured phone (think it has everything the P800 minus bluetooth) and siemens have a good following so i reckon it'll do well.

One more SPV (potential) beater:

The enigma that is Neonode N1 :)

Have to say that I have defected......sort of..... I got a SET610 from work and I have to say I had forgotten what it was like to have a small phone. I know it is a different market and that it is 'just' a phone but it is small, light, batt lasts for days, has a camera, syncs with outlook and SUPPORTS BLUETOOTH (important for me!).

That said my personal subscription with good old SPV is still going strong as I miss a 'proper' browser, WAV ringtones (even though my phone spends most of it's time on slient alert!) and all the things you can put on an SD card to play with as well as all the customisation and apps. Think the P810 when it comes out (late) might kill off the SPV for me though unless we get a substantial update before then.

I am actually amazed at how many things on the SPV I can do without just to have the convenience of a small all in one package, that said I still think the SPV had a really really good MMI given the other's on the market.

For now, feeling slightly schizophrenic and carrying around 2 phones :-)

Well, don't forget the Nokia 6800. There's a US and UK version (dual-band depending where you live).

I got one a few weeks ago and it's kinda neat (although the sound quality of the new earpiece SUCKS). Another big complaint, WAP 2.0 sucks. I could browse website under wap 1.X that I can't browse with 2.0 (thank you xHTML).

To be honest, now that I'm used to T9, I still prefer it over the full keyboard. While the keyboard is nice for URL's (why I still try to go to any is beyond me) and contacts or calendar stuff, for messaging, T9 still seems faster.

urk, sorry, i thought the 6800 sucked bigtime, apart from the crappy fully keybaord its a normal nokia, definitely not an spv beater in any shape or form

Had the 6800 actually been able to browse web/WAP pages, it would be up there. The built-in POP3/IMAP client is very cool and allows me to travel completely without a PocketPC or laptop.

You're right though, it's a typical crappy Nokia with a full keyboard (well, apart from the POP3/IMAP client that is).
