Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 A new "ToDo list" application is available for beta test on the Smartphone France web site : - http://www.smartphonefrance.info/ Google translation ( Smartphone France is french :) ) "This software advantageously replaces the manager of tasks provided of series in SmartPhone 2002. The detection of bug (Addressed to [email protected] ) will be rewarded by a licence at the time of the release of the final version."
Guest nige Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 looks quite good on initial inspection - syncs with PC outlook tasks OK, although it doesnt appear to have category functionality. will feedback more after I've played with it over the weekend
Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 The developper have some problems to retreive categories. It seems to be a POOM bug :)
Guest nige Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 ok also, just noticed that when you sync, it also syncs the in-built task program - any way of stopping this - ie selecting task program on the phone. Or is it possible to uninstall the task program thats already on the phone. Obviously not a bug with your app, just a case of duplication of data, which no doubt will take up space on the phone.
Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 You can remove the builtin task program shortcut in "/IPSM/Windows/Start Menu" :)
Guest fraser Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 It doesn't take any extra space on the phone. Both of the task applications are front-end programs to the same Tasks database, which is why both sync. The data is only stored once on your phone.
Guest fraser Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 Just tried it, very impressed. It does the following things that the original didn't: - Task list can be sorted and filtered as you wish - Customisable colours to show task status (e.g. late, completed etc.) - Tasks can be edited, including start/end/reminder times - Priority can be set This is much better! It's a very similar set up to the tasks software inside the PC version of Outlook. I've been waiting for this app for a while!!
Guest ormstont Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 Can anyone help me out on where to get this?! I've been to the smarphone france site and I can't see it anywhere (although it being in french was a bit of a problem!). It sounds really good and I'd like to have a go at testing it so any help would be much appreciated. Also, is this any relation to the other improved tasks app that was announced a few weeks ago as being in development but there hasn't been anything since?
Guest SmartphoneFrance Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 The CAB file is available here : - http://www.smartphonefrance.info/download/...sToDoSP.arm.cab 8)
Guest madu Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 Great app! I had some probs with reminders not reminding, that seemed to be the case only when my power settings > screen saver was set to Turn Off, worked fine on 'None' setting. But willl do some more testing. Keep up good work!! @author: what is 'removeme=1' BTW??
Guest fozzie Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Great app! I had some probs with reminders not reminding, that seemed to be the case only when my power settings > screen saver was set to Turn Off, worked fine on 'None' setting. But willl do some more testing..... Did you get any further with your testing? I can't seem to get any reminder at all on my SPV although I do get one in Outlook once sync'd up?!
Guest madu Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 AHHH!! That's it! Just as with birthdays, the phone doesn't set up reminders/dates, so whenever you sync it creates the reminders via PC Outlook and then syncs them again with your phone by recreating reminders in calendar (not seen in actual calendar app ocourse). This would make sense.
Guest fozzie Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Hmmm, wish it was that simple. Tried everything - 'double syncing', setting up the tasks in Outlook etc. I just can't get Reminders to work (apart from one time!) :?

Guest drblow Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 AHHH!! That's it! Just as with birthdays, the phone doesn't set up reminders/dates, so whenever you sync it creates the reminders via PC Outlook and then syncs them again with your phone by recreating reminders in calendar (not seen in actual calendar app ocourse). This would make sense. In that case - what exactly is the advantage of using this over the usual calendar function??
Guest fraser Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 It's not a calendar app, it's a replacement for the in-built task manager (ignore the boards auto-link, it's not relevant). The one that comes with the phone is very basic and limited. For example, if the Task subject is too long for one line, there is absolutely no way to view it. You also now have the ability to edit tasks, including setting start/end dates. It's these dates that trigger the alerts, but it seems from the other posts in this thread that the corresponding alerts are actually created by the PC version of Outlook. Normally this is transparent to the user. Also, you can customise the display, so tasks due in the next day or two stand out etc. If you use tasks at all, this new app is very much worth getting.
Guest smartphone2002 Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003  There is a new version of Oxios Todo List: http://www.smartphony.org/geeklog/public_h...ile.php?lid=713
Guest madu Posted July 19, 2003 Report Posted July 19, 2003 ::!:: TIP Volume buttons change priority while in the 'list of tasks' screen Voice Notes button takes you to 'Edit' task
Guest madu Posted July 20, 2003 Report Posted July 20, 2003 PS: You can map these 3 buttons to almost any function in new version.
Guest fraser Posted August 13, 2003 Report Posted August 13, 2003 Is anyone still using this successfully? I get a message "Evaluation license has expired". I've got the latest version on Smartphony, the one that is linked in "smartphone2002"'s post above. I've reset my phone yesterday, so it shouldn't be a number-of-days expiry thing. Anyone got any ideas? I used this quite a lot and I've deleted the shortcut for the in-built one 'cos it's rubbish!!
Guest nige Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 yes, i've just got that message this morning as well - do we knoe when the full version was due to be released
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted August 14, 2003 Report Posted August 14, 2003 First time i actually need a task organiser, try to install it and get that message :/ Roll on the next update!
Guest fraser Posted August 17, 2003 Report Posted August 17, 2003 The expiration seems tied to the date, I got it after a hard-reset.
