Guest pdantic Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 I have an HTC Tanager (SIM unlocked) that seems to be having major GPRS problems. Immediately after receiving the device, I slapped my SIM into it and set it up with the same T-Mobile GPRS info I have in my Pocket PC Phone (which works great, BTW). Very quickly I was able to get into MSN Messenger, use Inbox to grab my POP3 mail, and use IE to do wireless surfing. I got into MSN Mobile and even checked my MSN mail account. When I tried to log off of MSN Mobile, the device seemed to lock up and I was outta luck until I removed the battery pack... When I brought the device back up, the "G" in a box that normally indicates a GPRS network in the vicinity was gone. Thinking that the local T-Mobile GPRS network had gone south in the meantime, I shut down the Smartphone and popped the SIM back into my Pocket PC Phone - it had NO problems making a GPRS connection... Oh, well. I figured I would just use it as a phone. About 24 hours later, the "G" magically appears again and I was able to surf, check e-mail, and use IM to my hearts content. After a while, it locked up again and I had to wait another 24 hours or so for it to come back up. This has been a continuing issue, and 3 other guys I know who also go the Tanagers are running into the same or similar issues. Can anyone think of why I can't immediately get a GPRS connection when it goes down? Is there a utility I'm missing that will let me "reset" the device so that GPRS comes right back up? (By the way, a hard reset does NOT bring back GPRS - I've tried...). I'm getting less and less impressed with this device as time goes by, so anyone who can enlighten me as to what is going on will really make my day. I'm about to take the SIM out of this thing and stick it back into the Pocket PC Phone - at least it works all the time! Steve
