Guest FrankyG Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 Hey, I'm planning to paint mine this weekend..got a couple of questions for those who've been there, got the t-shirt; Did you paint the non-showing side of the battery also? I don't suppose it will take much more effort to paint it, so I probably will unless there's a reason not to....? Matt or Gloss? aside from personal preference, is one more durable than the other? Is bog standard masking tape as good enough or did you use something else? Thanks for any input, feel free to expand or add to any of the above... FrankyG
Guest nobznss Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I painted mine using just some acrylic paint. It hasn't been holding up very well. I'm probably going to have to do some touch-ups in the near future. I didn't paint the backing of the phone or the battery just because I had heard some complaints about it being sticky for a while. It does look pretty good and I like it quite a bit to be honest with you, it's just getting past the issue of paint peeling off.
Guest moomoomoo Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 I've painted mine, but it's quite sticky. It pulls things up from the desk. Quite a good method of cleaning it really... ha. I used metalic blue 'playi-kote spray paint', from the 'odds 'n' ends; range... I don't recommend it. Although having said that, I did only have two coats, and perhaps I cut the 24 hour waited period by a few hours. Any ideas guys on how to make it less sticky? Perhaps I need to coat it in something..? :)
Guest b1uepower Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 i painted my some time ago.. i just tape up the things that i didnt want paint on.. it lasted good but i kept droing it at a party so its got big chipps of paint off.. and iam gonna re-spray it next week..
Guest spootyguy Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 Get some acrylic lacquer and spray it on top, I think plasti-kote sell some of that as well. Good luck...
Guest axe Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 the inside of your battery contains the serial number .... i wouldnt paint over that ... just in case ... then again .. if it's painted anyway, it's not like you could return it to Orange or anything ...
