Guest mattscholey Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Just wondering if anyone here has got their SPV working fully on Orange Pay as you go. By this I mean everything works (Messenger, internet, email, etc). If you have please reply, as I want to buy it on Pay As You Go, but want to know that it works first. Also where did you buy it from? Thanks, Matt
Guest Firaas Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 It fully works on Orange PAYG - although GPRS prices are on the steep side at £4 a megabyte...
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Orange canned plans to launch on PAYG for now I believe? P
Guest martin Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 As Firaas said - price is a bit steep for GPRS on PAYG but it shouldn't be a problem if you stick to WAP browsing, WAP E-mails and messenger (any content based mainly on text). E-mails and HTML web browsing might use a lot of kb's if you are downloading images, files etc. At least with PAYG you can get an idea of much data (hence cost) each GPRS service requires. :) The Orange PAYG GPRS settings are the same as contract except the APNs are payginternet and paygwap.
Guest martin Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 Orange canned plans to launch on PAYG for now I believe?I wondered why nobody had mentioned this recently. The SPV is specific to Orange therefore if buying a phone out of contract then it might be worth looking at the Tanager. Hopefully competition will bring the prices of these phones down a bit.
Guest vijay555 Posted June 28, 2003 Report Posted June 28, 2003 i use it on payg, and gprs works fine, just not worth using. just use the correct net settings, used to be on old coolsmartphone, or i've posted elsewhere... V
