Guest Pagemakers Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 I have had a Eurotel smartphone (Tanager) for about 2 months. I always used to send SMS messages by clicking the inbox icon then creating a new SMS. There was NO SMS counter ;) Just now I created a new SMS message by entering my contact name on the main home screen by typing their phone number and using the right action button to select the SMS number. Then I clicked the action button to create a new message and to my amazement there was the SMS counter. Whats more, it works :) 2 months use and I never noticed that!
Guest James Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 no mate... just start typing the contact from the home screen.. then select it from the list... then push left or right to select sms.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 Another little tip, when you select "new message" from your inbox and have selected a contact to send it to, enter a number into the "CC" field and remove it. The SMS counter should then appear and work perfectly :)
Guest glynton Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 Nope still doesnt work for me... what country are you guys from? I'm from UK and have all the current updates (as far as I know!)
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 I am from the UK too but as you can see from my first posting I am using a Tanager not an SPV
Guest glynton Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 I have an Orange SPV... soz... totally missed the very first line of you post! But that's not fair.. how come you get an SMS counter and not us!!
Guest Pagemakers Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 Personally I dont know what all the fuss is about. Never needed to use the counter once. But now I've got one....
Guest glynton Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 I hate not having a counter... i send long messages... but am never sure whether they're two or one message long. And some of my friends complain that, if i've sent them a long message, they just get a load of symbols etc. So i'm forever writing the message, then going back back and making it as short as poss in the hope that it only sends one message
Guest Simon Desser Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 This SMS counter, is included on Tanagers, the Danish ROM (a few months ago) the Filipino "Smart" ROM and the Swiss 1.5 ROM update of last week. In all of these, it only works if the text is composed in a certain way :) I'd like to think that this is the first thing fixed in the next major UK update :?: (But you never know with "O" / MS/ HTC :? )
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 MS have cracked it. As i've said a few times before, the SMS counter has worked perfectly on the Compal for months. :)
Guest bamboo Posted June 29, 2003 Report Posted June 29, 2003 I am using the very first Orange SPV, and that threat works on it!! So great! I do not notice that for 7 months! Thanks mate!
Guest djthorp Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 The SMS counter has just kinda... well.... appeared for me. I'm using an SPV, las week I updated to the swiss ROM 1.5 but downgraded back to UK 1.36 and decided to wait for the UK 1.5 Since this I've had the conuter, dont know if it was left over from the 1.5 update (i doubt it) or if its been there all along Dave
Guest MARKUKCOUK Posted June 30, 2003 Report Posted June 30, 2003 how do you downgrade? if its easy ill upgrade n downgrade
Guest djthorp Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 how do you downgrade? if its easy ill upgrade n downgrade install the 1.5 rom, muck about with at a bit and behold the new speed. Take your SPV to the bootloader then reinstall the 1.36 rom Thats what I did anyway
