funny how the two guys who have cars in their custom ranks are the two people who hate the films!?

The 1st one was ok, but I'm gonna wait for the video.

Don't think I'm going to spend the best part of a fiver on it.

The problem is that it's not all that accurate. They glamorize street racing too much. They don't show all the "stuff" that goes down when you win. It's not pretty for the winner (especially when the looser isn't a good one), and believe me I know first hand.

its a film, not a reality tv show, take it for what it is, fast paced fun, i've seen both films and liked both films, i'd even argue that 2f2f is better than the original, less of that crappy drag racing and more proper street racing involved, and some top camera work (even though they change up through the gears like 15 times, never knew a skyline had so many gears hehe), ok, it isnt realistic, but so what :)

oh, and biker boyz is better than both films, but then, i'm more a biker than a car person, still love cars, just like bikes oh so much more ;)

I agree with you, it isn't a reality show. The problem is that some of the dumb people (I used to be one of them) see this movie and think it's totally cool and want to mimic it. Just a few days ago there was an ENORMOUS accident caused here because someone had just seen the movie and thought they would act out a couple scenes. Of course it's not the movies fault at all, but the people who are doing the racing. No one is going to see the Matrix and think they can fly or can go around kicking peoples butt. But I do think there is some value to showing what street racing is really like; ie the shootings, accidents, and deaths. I've had a couple friends that have gotten into some big trouble because of it. A "disclaimer" at the beginning of the movie can only do so much good, though again I don't blame the movie at all. People are the problem. Sorry, it's just a sensitive subject with me.

In 2f2f is the car getting crushed by a lorry and the other smashing into to at 90mph not accident and death enough?

2f2f is ok, but as Midnight said Biker Boyz is way better (and i'm more of a car person :))

I saw it on Saturday btw, and i did like it. Nice excuse to make a 2 hour ep of Top Gear (with semi-naked women ;p).

PS: What a crap name for a film: Biker Boyz

PPS: Not seen either 2f2f nor BB

The Fast and the Furious was great because it was basically a complete copy of Point Break, but with cars.

2F2F is OK, it's seems to have less plot that the first one, which may seem difficult, but I liked it anyway. It's good brainless fun with flashy cars and birds in tight pants. At least in this one they drive round corners rather than spinning out in a confused manner while driving in a straight line.

It's a good film for what it is - a no brainer ;) I enjoyed it, even if it wasn't very realistic and Paul Walker's insistence on calling everyone "bro" when I'm sure he didn't say it in the first film bugged me. Also, when he gets chased by the police after the race at the start of the film why does he keep all the neons on his car switched on? Surely he's conspicuous enough, without giving the police a nice blue glow to follow...

It was amusing when I walked out of the cinema and every car seemed to be racing up the road, as if they'd all seen the film! The road outside the cinemas in Bournemouth happens to be where people attempt to show off their cars which probably has something to do with it. I do think that The Fast and the Furious has a lot to answer for however, mainly -

a) 1 litre Novas/Saxos etc are not fast. Halfords wheeltrims and a large exhaust do not change this. Nor does redlining the car in every gear.

:D Unless on a show car (possibly), neon washer jets / undercar neons / neon valve caps do not improve a car's looks and make its owner look a prat. Since the Fast and the Furious came out there's been a definate increase in the amount of cars with neon "accessories".

c) As far as I know, the opposite sex are not attracted to 17 year olds in Novas, wearing Burberry caps and playing distorted UK garage.

Sorry, had to say that :) I do drive a 1.1 106, but i'm aware it has a sewing machine engine and therefore don't even try to drive it fast (it isn't possible anyway!). I'm not saying i'm against modifying cars - the results can be impressive if done well, but there's a fine line between good and bad taste, and dressing mutton as lamb is never a good thing!

1.6l Saxo VTR's do FLY though! hehe

On the subject of neons, i was quite impressed they stayed in one piece after landing from the bridge jump. I mean, how strong can you get 1mm thick glass holding a low pressure atmosphere :/

That and the fact his cars entire chasse (sp) would have bent like hell when he landed, impressive. :)
