I am well up on technology and know my stuff so that shouldn't be a problem, but I have a few (probably very basic) questions. I don't actually have an SPV yet, but I have been looking for quite some time now. Anyway, I wanted to know a couple of things before completely blowing my hard earned £££'s.: 1. Will the SPV work with a Virgin PAYG SIM card? 2. Will I be able to use the WAP service with this phone and disable GPRS(they don't have GPRS yet). 3. Is the phone reliable? 4. Is it a good / handy / smart phone to have around? 5. If my phone has a bootloader over 0.98 will I be able to downgrade it so that it can be unlocked? (I have seen a site, but it's all in French and I study German ). Thanks a lot guys, Hope you can help and please remember to be gentle. (I have seen a site, but it's all in French and I study German ). I take it you are talking about sim-unlocking and not OTA decertification as someone mentioned. Bootloader 0.98 is perfect for sim-unlocking. The unlock tool says it supports bootloaders 0.91 - 0.98. But from personal experience, I would have to say that it does not unlock bootloader 0.95 You should be fine with bootloader 0.98 As for the site - the official site is in BOTH French and English at the same time - don't know if that's the one you were talking about. >>Official Sim-Unlocking Site
Guest lufcfan Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 So what about turning off GPRS and using WAP instead? Can you use WAP. I presume you can. Any help on this would be great. Also, are there any Bootloaders available higher than 0.98 and if so can they be downgraded?
Guest gregbarton Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 no as far as i no 0.98 bootloader is the most up to date bootloader at the moment! yes gprs and be turned off and you can use wap instead but the settings can be very tricky!
