Guest blubear Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Hi, I just wondered whether someone might be able to help with the following niggles. Ive done alot of searching on the site but cant seem to find the answers. I am a newbie and havnt quiet got to grips with SPV problems yet so please forgive if I am repeating an old posted problem/s. q1. i recently downloaded pocketMVP and it ran well on my phone. I then tried the installed media player for the SPV and it would not operate. I removed the PocketMVP player and still media player will not operate on it when i click on it - Any ideas on how to resolve this. q2. I have quiet a few skins now and was wondering if there is a way of storing them for use on the SD card as opposed to in the ISPM which seems to eat the memory and slow the phone right down. The same apply's to the ringtones....??? q3. I wish to upgrade my SD card from 64MB to 128MB is there a way I can transfer all the info on my current SD to the new one, as Ive already sorted out all the settings for the screensavers, installed programs, keypad mods etc here?? Hope anyone can help especially with q1.'cant do without me music' lol.. Many thanks
Guest nickcornaglia Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Sorry, I cant help with q1 q2. The same apply's to the ringtones....???As far as I know...skins must be run from the proper directory. But there is no reason that you couldn't create a folder on your SD card and move the files to the APP DATA-HOME directory when you wanted to switch using SmartExplorer or the like. The same can be applied to the ringtones. SOmeone else may be able to offer more ideas q3. Put your old card in the phone. Put the phone in the cradle. Open Active Sync. Move all of your files and folders on your SD to a temporary folder on your desktop. Replace the card. Move 'em all back. If you keep your file/folder structure the exact same way, especially the PROGRAMS folder, you should have no problems. Hope that helps. :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 As far as I know...skins must be run from the proper directory. The same can be applied to the ringtones. SOmeone else may be able to offer more ideas To add to that homescreens are normaly in .hme format, if you did have a folder on the storage card to store your homescreens in. Change the .hme file format to read only. Then when you install a homescreen the .hme file is not deleted when you swap home screens around. Also if you are ever going to move lots of or large files around it may be worth investing in a card reader (cheap one costs £10) it makes transfering files quick and easy.
Guest davy Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 re q1. I assume you are referring to the windows media player pre installed on the spv. If so try this link: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...9&highlight=wmp I haven't tried the reset cab myself but it seems to have worked for others, :) ;) davy.
Guest axe Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 beware that windows media player takes quite some time to start up, especially if you have a lot of folders on your SD card,... you might want to try creating a playlist and launching that ... makes your media player start right up.. (just like when you're watching streaming video from the web ... you download a playlist file and it start up media player very fast)
Guest midnight Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 yeh, i'm afraid its cos one of your skins renamed the media player skin files (not the authors fault really, its only recently become apparent that you shouldnt rename the media player skin file/locaion), and now when you have removed that skin its bye bye media player, the cab mentioned above will fix it.
