I was wondering how much people use MMS, I've only used it once!

If you do use it, what do you use it for?

Nope...only know one person with an MMS enabled phone, and as he's my flatmade it aint worth 40p to show him a picture ;p

At 40p a time why bother when you can email someone the picture later ...

The only use I've found for it is to send a friend a photo of something in a shop;

e.g. "Do you think she'll like these mugs?"

I've used it a few times, manly just because it was there. It's limited because only some people have phones for it, and then a lot of them aren't on Orange. Yes, we're supposed to have cross network working now, but it hasn't worked very well the times I've tried sending MMS to vodafone...

I'm still waiting for Orange netherlands to enable MMS

once it kicks in ... I'll start using it lots ... as it's FREE for me anyway and ALL my collegeus have an SPV too ....

Nope, never use it.

a) Too expensive,

c) Always forget to take my camera with me.

And is it just me or is it reallllllly slow? Takes about 30-60 secs to send or receive a picture. Not worth the effort IMHO.

i`m on O2 contract, and i get 500 texts free a month, if i send an mms, they take 4 text credits off me, so its free, and i use it occasionally, trouble is, it works for some of my mates, but not for my girlfriend??!!!

Same here, the price has always put me off but then it's never really

interested me either. :?

But surely this is indicative of MMS in general, not just Smartphone users?

Just wondering how the poll would be affected if the SPV had an integrated camera?

I'm starting to use it more now as more people I know get camera (or at least colour screen) phones.

I'd definitely use it if I could send MMS to people abroad on other networks! That would ROCK! I have many friends abroad (at home and other places) and they would be buzzing if they got an MMS of me [/without me :)] by some London attractions!1 Like London Eye or me boss ;) Otherwise I don't see myself using this at all

Quite interesting results...

Pretty much everyone here doesn't use mms.

But phone companies and service providers keep plugging it and telling us it's the best thing ever.

Have you seen the 02 adverts on Big Brother? People spending 40p to send a message across a room?!! madness!

I think MMS needs to be chaper if people are going to use it, or a new and productive use for our cameras needs to be found! And no I don't just mean 'mobile asses'.

Or maybe they should retire SMS and reduce MMS costs to the same level? :)

Gave up after 2 attempts becuase:

1. It doesn't work between networks, despite what they now claim

2. It doesn't work even between identical handsets

3. It's waaaaaay too expensive (that's why they're promoting it)

MMS is the biggest crock of sh1t i've ever seen.

A friend with another SPV (on orange) tried to send one and it didn't work!!!

Hi Everybody

I've only used it on a few occasions and most of those were failed attempts to a Vodafone user. She can't even be bothered to find out how it works. I only know one other person with MMS but saw a guy in one club sending pix & sound of the DJ/dancefloor to his mate in another club. Thought a killer application might be emerging there !

Are there any official figures for MMS-phone sales / useage ?

The lack of other users is my main problem.

I used to use MMS when it was free and texts cost me 10p, but I think i've only used it once since I had to pay! It's not only annoying that not many people have a compatible phone, but also if you recieve an MMS, chances are you'll be in a GPRS blackspot and the SPV won't want to play ball. So much for instant messaging :) I got an MMS on a train once and couldn't read it for about 2 hours until the SPV decided it could get a GPRS signal - recieved an SMS during that time no problem! I do know about 3 people I could send an MMS to if I wanted, but i'd rather send an e-mail!

The networks are pushing MMS becuase if they can get people hooked it's another handy revenue stream after they spent so much on 3G licences - all they need to do is find it's killer app...could take a while. Still, it's more practical than having a 3 phone I suppose - hmm, I want to video call someone...let's see, I know one other person on 3 and I've actually got 3G coverage, but they're stuck in the Cotswolds, damn! Better send an SMS ;)

I only know one other person with MMS but saw a guy in one club sending pix & sound of the DJ/dancefloor to his mate in another club.

I know i'm being picky, but if he had an average camera phone (SPV included) all his mate probably would have recieved was a black picture with a couple of blurred lights in it and some very distorted screeching sound. Then I doubt his mate could have heard the sound if he was also in a club. Waste of 40p IMO! :D

Its to damn expensive! ... If the prices was lowered to like 20% of what it is now, I might consider it!
