Guest kenman Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 hi everybody! :D i IR'd the WATERMAN game (WATERMAN.EXE) from another smartphone to my smartphone and now i cant get it off my phone. the game caused my phone to slow down. its now snail's pace slow :) tried to delete it via EXPLORE using ACTIVE SYNCH, but i get the message with the RED CIRCLE with the LETTER X: :?: CANNOT DELETE FILE WATERMAN: ACCESS IS DENIED. MAKE SURE TOUR MOBILE DEVICE HAS SUFFICIENT MEMORY, THAT THE FILE IS NOT SET AS READ-ONLY, AND THAT YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO COPY THIS FILE. :?: i've also tried to delete it through SMART EXPLORER, still no go. i can trnsfer the game to another folder, even to my computer and i still get the same error message. i'm a newbie and i'd sure appreciate any help i can get. ;) also, is there a workaround on how to make video move smoother on my smartphone? thanks a bunch! :D
Guest spacemonkey Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I'd say that the game is still running in the background of your phone, which is why you can't delete it. Reboot your phone (power off then power back on) should hopefully clear it and allow it to be deleted. Another option is to use a tool such as Task Manager or QuickClose (available from my site) to close background applications. This can also help if you find your phone running really slow.
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 You probally can't delete it because the file is in use. try turning the phone off then on again, that should clear the memory and let you remove it. Or get task manager, it allows you to kill apps and free up memory, this should allow you to delete the file (which is probally in use) and should speed up video playback a bit. Are you using WMP to view videos? Why not try DivX files in pocketMVP? Hope this is of some help.
Guest Mr_Protozoa Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Damnit Spacemonkey! You've beaten me to it!
Guest axe Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 WMP sucks for videos ... best playback performance (full screen) imho is achieved in POCKETTV using mpeg(4) files. all the info you need about converting your files or where to find the player are on this site..
Guest spacemonkey Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I haven't kept up with pocket TV but doesn't it only play mpeg1 files? Mpeg4 files give you the same quality in a smaller file and play through PocketMVP , however, they are more demanding of the phone to play back so you Pocket TV with mpeg1 files is well worth trying too.
Guest davy Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Here http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=62474 for Pocket TV but my personal favourite is PocketMVP ;) davy. Edit Spacemonkey wins again, I must learn to type quicker. :)
