Guest XGEOX Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 As some of you may know ive been working on a games news and reviews website (url shown below).. Unfortunately I've run into some problems which I'd really like some help with: have a look at the link below (on your PC): http://www.xgeox.uglybabystudios.com/SPV/h...ife2_movies.htm As you can see, there are links to several movies in wmv format. When you click on them, they play fine. Now have a look at the same link on your SVP (i recommend you use pass-through to prevent any gprs costs): http://www.xgeox.uglybabystudios.com/SPV/h...ife2_movies.htm Now when you click the link on your SPV, the movie appears in code form (at least it does on mine :? ). When i tested the movies on my SPV by copying them over with activesync, they played fine. Shouldnt the browser try to play the movies in media player automatically when linked to in a webpage? Does anyone know why it's doing this, and how i can stop it? ;) Ideally i want the movies to stream to media player when the link is clicked, but all im getting at the moment is lines of code :D Thankyou for your time :)
Guest axe Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I had the same problem when i was setting up my site ... first i thought the only option would be to set up a streaming webserver (windows media server) however somebody said that it was a question of changing something on the web server configuration... i never found out what it was and i abandonded the idea i had for a site ... (i'm not sure about smartphone2k , but in normal windows this would be a client-side issue) if ya find out, let me know
Guest Hazz Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Just guessing but maybe the movies need to be embeded into the page. http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php?p...intfriendly=yes The link above may help.

That's an interesting idea - I'll look into it. (btw, I couldnt get your link to work for some reason) :? No matter - i know how to embed media - it's just a matter of getting smartphoneIE to read it ;) MAME Types? I'm not sure what you mean Madu? Thanks everyone - if i work it out I'll let you know. Btw - did anyone get to see the movies? Are they acceptable quality for watching on the SPV, or should I make the filesize larger/smaller? Would anyone actually watch them if i regularly posted preview movies like these of new games?
Guest XGEOX Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 ok, ive tried embedding the videos, which doesnt appear to work at all. ;) Ive also tried some different formats, which didnt work either. :D However, i've been to the 'windowsmedia mobile' site where they have some videos to download, and they are in the asx format - is this a streaming format or something else? how can i convert my videos to asx? any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Guest martin Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I confess to knowing absolutely nothing about any of this but just out of curiosity I opened a online WAP browser and looked at the the file properties of Smart Networks streaming Videos for SAP. (http://wap.smart.com.ph) I noticed that the property type of your files are Windows Media Audio/Video whereas the files on Smart show a file type ASP?AREA=STREAMING&ID=46 File (the 46 relates to that particular file) Try a search under ASP STREAMING. For instance there is this but I don't know if it helps. http://beta.experts-exchange.com/Web/Web_L...Q_20361272.html
