Guest Baconpants Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I've installed a new 64MB SD Card by copying data from my old 8MB SD card onto my hard drive and copied it back onto my new card. I've removed programs and games from the remove programs menu, from my SPV but it still says I've only got 0.18MB Storage Space Left and only 4.34MB Memory left. I've looked elsewhere for disk space usage, and I've only got a few extra ringtones in my sounds directory totalling 1.78MB for all of them. :?: Why is it doing this :?: How do I get it to recognise the new storage space :?: Do I need to do a Hard Reset to cure this :?: Please Help :)
Guest sipunch Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I found this also, turned out I had an MP3 file floating around.. Have a good nosey around, empty IPSM/MAPI and the attachments folder Good Luck!
Guest axe Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I'm not sure, but i think you may be mixing up 2 kinds of memory here ... the phone comes with an internal memory (called IPSM) which is not the same as the 64mb SD card you have added. The best thing you can do is install task manager, run it, and press 3, it will show you exactly how your memory is divided and how much is exactly in use. Apart from that, If your phone memory (IPSM) itself seems fuller then it should be, there are a coupole of things to check 1. ringtones (you checked that) 2. backgrounds / skins 3. sms (install sms tool and delete them all in 1 go) 4. failed installations... some app/game installation may have ended prematurly and left files in the IPSM the last one you can check by using active synch to go to the folder IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall and deleting everything there .. (you can in fact safely remove the entire folder) ps: excuse any spelling mistakes, english is not my native language
Guest Baconpants Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Thanks for the suggestions guys, I've checked the IPSM/MAPI/ATTACHMENTS FOLDER - Already empty. I've tried installing Task Manager but after its transferred the cab file to the phone and asks me where I wish to install the program. Some success as it now says I have 60MB free on the storage Card, but only 1MB or so on the phone.) Anyway I choose the storage Card but I get the message: "Installation failed. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have adequate system permissions. Please contact your service provider for more info." Any suggestions.........
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 the last one you can check by using active synch to go to the folder IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall and deleting everything there .. (you can in fact safely remove the entire folder) You cannot view the Install folder using Activsync, only a file manager installed on the phone will be able to see this folder. One of the best file managers around for a decerted phone is Smart Explorer :)
Guest Baconpants Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Can I point out that my phone is NOT Unlocked. Any other suggestions, or will a hard reset blitz anything I don't need. (I have performed a backup.)
Guest Gorskar Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 well there is a free trial available for all explorer (signed), which will give you 15 days to play around IA Style do a pretty nice set of tools including a task manager and file explorer which is signed. Best advice though is to get the certification requirements removed from your phone. This can be done OTA (over the air) from the developers.orange.com website.
