Guest XGEOX Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Welcome to the site :) To use your mp3s as ringtones, you must first convert them to the WAV format, then copy them to your phone's memory (not the storage card). You can convert mp3s to wavs using the Windows Sound Recorder. You should be able to get 30sec of mp3 music down to around 600kb if you compress it anough (try PCM, 11khz, 8bit, Mono). Then you need to use activesync to copy it to IPSMapplication DataSounds. Once it's on your phone, you will be able to select it just like the standard ringtones form within the phone's sound settings menu. If you need help converting the file in Sound recorder, i can explain further. Alternatively, search for an existing post - theres loads of em on this subject.
Guest acestu Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 :) Thanks for the info my friend, i have managed to convert, just need to put in right folder, Cheers again Acestu
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Welcome to the site :) You may not have a Sounds folder in IPSMApplication Data so you may need to create the folder, just make sure you call it Sounds otherwise it will not work.
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 My phone cant find the tones put in my SD card. What's wrong?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 See the tweaks thread in the articles forum, you have to make a small modification to the registry to store rintones on your SD card, as the OS does not support this natively.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Download PHM Registry Editor from my site :)
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Can you give me the direct link so I download the right program, please. Thanks for helping.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 http://www.monolithix.org/apps/regedit.Stngr_ARM.zip :)
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 How do I install the registry editor? Can I edit from the compter or do I have to do it on the phone?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Unzip the cab and place it on your phone (IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories). Go to the folder in your "Programs" menu on the phone, and click it to install. After that just run the app from your Programs menu and edit the appropriate keys.
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I have tried to install Set Tones but the program dont work. Are there any other programs like this one? Mabye I have done somethig wrong?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Settones is the only one of its kind. What problems are you having with it?
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 The program wount start after installing it. Where should I put the CAB file?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 .cab files need to be installed, place the cab in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories then on the phone go to ProgramsAccessories then run the cab, it will now install the app for you :)
Guest smilys Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I have tryed this but the program wont open. Any ideas whats wrong?
