Guest woof Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Need some help if possible guys and gals, My phone has messed up. It wont turn on or anything, any ideas. Even with the charger in nothing happens and the charge light dont even comes on. All that happens is as you push the charger in the light flashes once (very short flash) in the colour of red, and thats it.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I am guessing it is a battery problem. Is it holding any charge at all?
Guest XGEOX Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 hmm - is there anything obstructing the battery's metal contacts like dirt or corrosion? How old is the battery? It's possible the contacts arent touching properly, but it's more likely the battery is just knackered (or maybe the charger?) :?
Guest Will Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 3 things (and probably more) that HAVE caused this to me.: My complete solution (hey it's works so far!!) remove battery remove sdcard remove sim plug mains charger into phone, try to restart (yes with NO battery attached) -reattach battery attempt to restart attach mains charger. leave phone powered off for 1 hour. attempt to restart re-insert sim attempt to restart once phone is running insert sdcard. Will
Guest broeren79 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 can't think of anything but a busted battery.... try at the orange shop with a different battery
Guest ashley.flynn Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 exatcly the same thing happend to me when i pulled the battery out whilst the phone was booting up for the first time after a hard reset. It was completely unresponsive. I called orange and told them about the 'strange' phenomenon and they replace the handset (not the battery) and it worked fine. If you got insurance on the phone then i would suggest this
Guest woof Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 I have a second battery and Ive tried that, still does the the same thing, wont even show a slight sign of turning on, or charging, just dead
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 It is an ex SPV... it has ceased to be You got Orange Care? Phone them and enjoy your new phone when it arrives!
Guest woof Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 :) great, I aint got orange care either, thats all I need, i loved my SPV and cant afford a new one ;)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 OK options: a) Take out emergency Orange Care - £30 to join, get your phone replaced, £5 a month thereafter :) How long you had the phone - less I am mistaken the SPV should have a 12 months manufacturer warranty. If it has failed in that time, then Orange have to repair or replace it. Personally, I would save yourself a headache and go for a)
Guest woof Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 The only problem is, Im not with orange, and the phone was brought off ebay....brand new, how can I make sure its in the manufactures warrenty
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Was it brand new from a dealer or was it a private sale? If it was a private seller then normaly warranties are not transferable :)
Guest broeren79 Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 especially when you do not have an official receipt!
Guest woof Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Yeah, it was a private sale, typical, all I need, Suppose I could still give it a try, just say I cant find the recipt. How do I find out that it is definatly not more than 12 mounth old, anything on the back or ought P.S, who is that bloke who is quite amazing at these phone, who knows the software and electronics inside out????
Guest Will Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 AFAIK the SPV has not been available for 12 months yet? So it's worth a try exploring the warranty side. Don't think orange will be of help directly, but there is an htc repair centre in the UK, they should be able to provide you with this. Will
Guest woof Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Oh brill, Is there any chance of some contact detail for both how I contact SPV and also the other repair centre
Guest Rob.P Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I can't remember which thread it was but someone listed the direct phone number for the HTC repair centre.
