Is anyone actually using PAYG on vodafone successfully?

Ok, I've made my best attempt at using all the settings suggested to me in the repository and by personal suggestion, but it just ain't happening for me. I'm not stupid, although GPRS telecoms are quite new to me so there are some settings that use phrases that are referred to differently on some sources to others.

I have used educated guesses and have tried every permutation I can of various settings as suggested by individuals, the repository and vodafones website.

There must be someone who has successfully come up with some settings that work on their SPV for pay as you talk / go on vodafone.

Is there anyone on this forum who is really using PAYG vodafone - and without sounding disrespectful to other who have tried to help with settings that could work - can a vodafone user (non-contract) please just confirm that it can be done, and then we can talk about settings + tips etc.

P.S. I don't mean to offend anyone or step on peoples toes, but you really can't beat advice from someone who has actually done what I'm trying to do. There are a lot of settings in the repositry that look like they could work - but just don't seem to for me.

N.B. my phone worked ok on orange in the same enviroment I'm in so signal strength etc. shouldn't be an issue, and I do get the GPRS indicator showing me that GPRS is available (with a signal strength indication too), and I have got MMS enabled on my account.
