I use my phone to pick up mail via POP3 because I don't have Internet access at home. I understand that if you do this then you can't sync them back to your PC.

Is there a workaround or bodge that will get my new mail into Outlook on my PC so both phone and Pc are up to date?

cheers

The way Smartphone 2002 works is you either sync mail with Outlook or download/send e-mail from a pop3/imap account. You can't currently do both. This means if you sync you can't send/recive e-mails while on the move.

However downloading from a pop3/imap account will still leave the messages from the server (unless you delete them from your smartphone), so providing both the phone and Outlook are set up for the same pop3/imap account, they should always have the same messages after downloading.

The problem comes if you want to sync with one e-mail account (say your work one) but also have a different pop3 account available to send e-mails on the go. This doesn't work unfortunately :-(

Finally, even if you choose to use a pop3/imap e-mail account, rather than syncing, you can still sync calender, contacts and notes.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've sent off for a USB cable to use the SPV as a pass through modem so I think I'll use my PC to get the mail then sync it over. I'm off roun the world soon though so will be going back to using POP3 on the phone. what's the betting I lose it and all my mail!

cheers
