Guest bock Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 can't get my spv to connect to my pc. spv in cradle-cradle in pc via usb, outlook installed, activesync installed-run "configuration wizard" "reading current confiurations" appears but then"connection failed.check your...&try again" appears what am/have i doing/done wrong
Guest broeren79 Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 the connectors of practically any htc manufactured device are a bit twiddlye the first time. open activesync, put your spv in the cradle, and wiggle it around a but, making sure it is pressed down securely. once your spv has been found, it'll be set up, and from then on it will not be as much of a hassle it is the first time. somehow my dads ipaq as well as my sisters ipaq had the same. I had it with my spv too.....
Guest bock Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 wiggled spv, still no good activesync reads "connecting" on pc and pc makes hardware found "beeboop" noise but all options (of any use) on activesync grayed out. if activesync on spv selected reads "connecting" for 1/2second then "not connecting" tried wiping spv's memory(orange advice) but still no joy
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Welcome to the site :) Did you install activsync before plugging the phone in the cradle? two suggestions, 1, In activsync go to FileConnection settings and make sure allow USB is checked 2, Unplug the cradle, Uninstall Activsync, reinstall it then plug the cradle and phone in.
Guest lorddemondon Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 I seem to remember having this same problem when I first connected my spv. For me, I think it was a usb problem. I only know this because my modem and soundcard are also usb and I've had similar problems with them. For me, it was just a case of changing which usb port I was using until all 3 were working... trial and error I suppose. I know this doesn't exactly sound too technical, but hey, it worked for me! Once you've done a bit of cable fiddling, try getting sync to find the usb again, and hopefully you'll come up with something quite soon!
Guest mcwarre Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 Stand in a bowl of water, on one leg, with the opposite arm raised with your finger in your other ear. Usually works for me.... Doesn't help with active synch problems tho' :) ;) :D
Guest bock Posted July 2, 2003 Report Posted July 2, 2003 yes spv was plugged in before i booted installation disc-computer is new and i just plugged everything in and switched on pc- uninstalled all programs on disc, uninstalled driver in control panel, rebooted pc and cd,moved usb cable in every port still nowt-computer recognises there is something there"windows ce device"-seems to install it before wizard has chance
Guest lorddemondon Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 what version of windows do you have? :?:
Guest bock Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 xp. tried another cradle+cd from orange still no joy. i'm thinking hardware fault on spv,but camera attachment works
Guest bock Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 ;) :D :D :) i have got my phone to work my internet security was blocking the traffic from the spv to pc and back-still not completely sorted as at the moment i can only connect when firewall disabled :? uninstalled norton, reinstalled norton, because it spv attached before norton (re)installed firewall accepts spv as a ligitimate device.
