HOW TO: Using non-English characters in messages

Even though Smartphone is able to display non-English characters, such as the Norwegian and Danish "æøå", the Swedish "äöå" or the German "ß", it is not possible to type them.

But there is a simple 12-step-work-around for this problem...

1.

The first thing you need to do is to download an application for controlling

your mobile phone through your computer.

Go to the following URL, where you can download the application:

http://www.coolsmartphone.com/remote-control.htm

2.

I now presume that you have installed Remote Display Control, and that the

application is working as described at coolsmart.com

3.

Remote Display Control does not support non-English characters either, so

you can't solve the problem by typing them.

But don't worry, that is not a problem...

4.

Send a SMS message to yourself from a phone or an application which supports

the non-English characters you want to use.

In this message you simply type the non-English characters, such as the

Norwegian and Danish "æøå", the Swedish "äöå" or the German "ß".

5.

Now you copy each character you want to use, and save them as a template.

Since it's not possible to cut and paste text in Smartphone, we have to do

this in Remote Display Control. Connect your cellphone to your computer and

start the application.

6.

Open the message that you sent to yourself on your cellphone. Then click

"Menu -> Forward".

7.

In the Remote Display Control use the arrow-keys (on your computer) to move

the cursor to the right of the character you want to copy. Press the

Shift-key while you press the left arrow key to select the character. Then

use Ctrl + C to copy it.

8.

Now you must cancel the message that you have opened on your cellphone.

Click "Menu -> Cancel Compose".

9.

From your Inbox click "Menu -> Options -> Predefined Text".

10.

Use Ctrl + V to paste the character into the template, then click "Done".

11.

You have now created a template for the non-English character. Repeat steps

6 to 10 to create templates for other characters.

12.

When typing messages click "Menu -> Insert Text" and select the character

you want to use.

Or use remote registry editor and change values there.. Though this requires a heavy SDK toolkit ~300MB
