Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 I will be uploading a system change tomorrow that will mean unread topics (aka read folders) survive between sessions, machines, browsers, logout-logins etc. etc. Woohoo! :) P
Guest spacemonkey Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 good stuff... of course now I need to change my habits to click on the mark all as read button :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 My inet's been down at home since Tuesday, keeping up with the threads from work alone is a bitch. My session timed out here at work over lunch and i lost all my red folders :)
Guest casper508 Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Now thats a great news Paul. Good Job ! Something we've all been waiting for a long time. On a slightly OT note, how about making the Topics Viewed count available to all members. Cheers Cas
Guest casper508 Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 Total topics/threads/posts viewed by each member. As far as I know, currently these stats are only available to mods. Cas
Guest cybercamel Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 This is great news, I won't have to upgrade to broadband now, I can keep my rickity old system going for a while longer :)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 At last :) Excellent I can now make flying visits without having to remember the times I last viewed etc. Cheers
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 The upgrade may be delayed a few days, due to extra testing... P
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 This fix has now been implemented, feedback please :) You may want to click the 'mark all forums read' initially to get you going... P
Guest James Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 flying visits like me! its working in spain! what are all the new buttons all about?flying visits like me! its working in spain! what are all the new buttons all about?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Due to an issue pointed out by MattKirby (and JloWap), the update has been rolled back temporarily... P
Guest davy Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Did we all become mods for a short time there :?: I was sorely tempted to try warning a few members :) ;) davy.
Guest Matt Kirby Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 I felt that temptation too!
Guest NederSoren Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Nah.. I was speaking with Monolithix.. and he explained me: We DID have the MOD buttons.. but they were no use.. If you pressed them you would get a message about it only worked for MODs.. I tested it out myself.. And i got the message, so non of you couldn't really ban anyone :)
Guest madu Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 Shame ;) We (mods) could then ban some annoying buggers and blame it all on you!!! MWAHAHAHA! :):D On a serious note: good to know the red folder fix is here/coming.. Been awaiting for time now
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 6, 2003 Report Posted July 6, 2003 The red folder fix is a substantial change... At the moment red folders are cookie based, whereas I am moving them into the DB... P
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Right, it's now live! You might want to do a 'mark all read' to get you going :) P
Guest siu99spj Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 This is just improving the site beyond all belief. Congrats to Paul  I must admit, until I read the new posts on this thread all the folders were red and I thought I'd missed a week or something!! Quite often I just do flying visits to my PM folder and its annoying blanking all the folders at the same time... As a small Q, would it be possible to mark all folders in a certain group read, such as just Off Topic or Software? I thought I'd just ask as I don't really read all posts in some groups and keeping them red is just a bugbear I have.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 You already can - go into the area and select 'mark all as read' :) P
