Guest SAPFreak Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 I was able to upgarde my phone to version 1.50.28! Get the software here! :) http://www.smart.com.ph/SMART/Products/Sma...P_downloads.htm
Guest schadow1 Posted July 3, 2003 Report Posted July 3, 2003 You may also download it here in case Smart's website is hammered. http://www.mtech.com.ph/geoff/schadow1/sap/sap_150.zip
Guest trouble Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 what's new in the update? is it safe to use on an openlined SAP?
Guest grifter Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 the enhancements are listed in SMART's site under Smart Amazing Phone.
Guest SAPFreak Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 Mine's not an open line so I wouldn't know. Though I was able to test the SMS fix and the Addict STK. I don't see any difference on the Action Engine side. Btw, I'm excited for the arrival of my own soft keyboard. My sis will send me one this month!
Guest jabez Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 @SAPFreak Could you be more specific about your observations on the new upgrade? What does the "SMS fix" do? How about the Addict STK? :? More power! jabez

More power! jabez exactly. i read what SMART posted. does anyone have more specific details, especially with the "SMS Patch"?
Guest grifter Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 i'd upgrade my unit now but i left my sync cable at home. so if anyone in the Makati area wants to lend me their sync cable, i'll gladly upgrade then give you guys feedback. :)

Guest trouble Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 yup. why do you ask? because mine isn't and i wanna know if anyone has tried upgrading on a SAP that has been openlined and the effects of the upgrade, if any...
Guest grifter Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 oh. i don't think there's gonna be any effect. as was the case of upgrading from 1367 to 1378. what's your concern anyway? that the simlock will come back?

Guest grifter Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 ok. just my wild guesses: 1. sms patch -- probably solves the missing first letter problem 2. Addict STK -- probably solves the missing menu problem 3. actionBU/actionRES -- probably enhances speed or efficiency in terms of bytes sent to reduce GPRS costs
Guest roni_samson Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 read this here in modaco Post subject: Re: How to remove the SIM LOCK... PERMANENTLY! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those of you in the Philippines (and elsewhere) DO NOT download the new software "upgrade" from Smart's website. ALL it is intended for is to LOCK your phone, and make it unlockable. It installs bootloader 1.04 and any future attempts to downgrade to .98 or .99 FAIL, and SPV unlock will not work, you just get the failure at 66% as others have reported. If anyone has a workaround for this new bootloader, I would appreciate any advice you may have. Thanks in advance. BTW, why would Smart sell a TRIBAND phone, and then lock it so you can't use it in a country that uses the 1900 MHZ band? (go figure) is this true? if yes, i managed to write down my unlock code when i first unlocked my SAP, will i still be able to use it?thanks
Guest rodnav Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 hi, i just upgraded the to the new 1.5 rom. yes, it did upgrade to bootloader 1.4. but i dont know if it removes sim unlock as my unit is still lock to smart. haven't really figured out what is new with it. what i noticed is that my ringtones have been reset. and there seems to be a new camera icon and i tried it out and the camera seems to refresh faster than before. and the video mode at 80 x 60 has a fairly decent refresh rate at 10 fps. not sure if it really changed though i seldom use the camera before.
Guest rodnav Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003  f*(*&% another thing the upgrade did was remove the pass through internet connection. d..... it anyone else have this problem???

Now I don't experience the Addict Menu and the 160 character problem.

Guest rodnav Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 SAPfreak, where is it? i can't find it... "programs>settings>data connections>internet connection" ... only smart gprs, smart wap gprs, and automatic,- no passthrough connection anymore! work connection has passthrough but it doesn't do anything... i called *888, and i had this inept CSR who kept saying "as far as i know" which means he didn't really know very much. he just kept saying that smart gprs setting was the default. was on the phone with him for nearly an hour including being put on hold, only to be told that "as far as he knows" there's nothing he could do about it.
Guest mlkanapi Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 I just made a big mistake by urgrading to ROM 1.5.0.28. It SIM locked my previously unlocked SAP! Fortunately all my programs still work and I did not lose the Pass thru connection option. I just hope it does not affect the ability to install uncertified programs.
Guest JDimeRolla10 Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 Just to add, the 1.50.28 ROM upgrade does not work on network-unlocked phones. Your phone needs to be locked to the SMART network for you to be able to use this ROM upgrade. Moreover, an anonymous tip from a SMART employee said that it re-configures the IMEI (I don't even know if this is possible). Thus, if your phone has a v0.98 bootloader, you ran the SPVunlock software, copied the unlock code for later use, upgraded your ROM to v1.04 bootloader, then inserted a SIM other than SMART hoping that you'll get the ENTER YOUR UNLOCK CODE screen... tsk tsk tsk... keep on hoping... because the unlock code that you previously kept won't work. Haven't tried it yet though...
Guest tutut17 Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 @JDimeRolla10- u said it wont work w/ network unlocked SAP, bakit ung kay mlkanapi na lock?
Guest mlkanapi Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 You'd better believe it. When I start up my SAP with a SIM card other than SMART, it initially reads NO SERVICE then Radio off where the Operator is displayed, then Your SIM is Invalid. I'll wait until someone can find a solution to this problem. Anyway be warned!
Guest r3n5y Posted July 4, 2003 Report Posted July 4, 2003 How about installing uncertified programs? Will it be locked?
