I would not apply this update. My SPVx is now SIM Locked and I cannot get it to a point to enter my SIM unlock code. Even SPV Unlock does not work. Stops at 66% - Invalid Code - Aborting. Have to go back to my Orange till I can sort this out..

If you reapply the 0.98 boot loader, you'll then be able to unlock it :)

Does this update work on ALL Smartphones? I have Qtek 7070.

Or even better now, have a read of Florin_m's posting in the "News" section where he etails step to unlock new versions of smartphone software with the newer boot loaders

It should do - we wouldn't advise it of course, as it changes your GPRS / Backup / Update settings among other bits, so you have to know what you are doing. All the updates are now pretty much the same. However, I did notice that the latest iMate update did properly FIX the SMS counter prob and hopefully (when the Smart webserver goes a bit quicker) this one should too !

gear,

Where is that update located?

Your phone should have the Radio Version 1.31.10, ROM version 1.5.0.28.

That radio version is newer than mine (UK SPV ROM 1.3.5.6) so maybe it fixes some of the radio issues?

I've recently had Orange Swiss v1.5 on and I've now got an SMS Char. Counter left behind so i'm quite happy with the current UK update.. just waiting on UK v.1.5 :)

Peace out.

hey, im lookin to buy a Smart Tanager

if I apply the Smart software update to the phone, will it also simlock the phone again? or is that just happening to SPV folks applying the Smart update to their phone?

what process should i take to ensure that the Smart Tanager is unlocked again after applying the patch?

SMS counter :?: you never know

its still the same no sms counter... it appear when i reply to number not in my phonebook but if its already in my phonebook...no more sms character counter just the word "reply".... one thing ive notice... its much faster that before... i think the sms patch is on the t9... it retain new words.. just like nokia when we add new word in the dictionary

have you hardreset after update? AFAIK, to see the full benefits of update you need to hardreset - that's when SMS counter becomes fully working (again, AFAIK). I have updated but not hardreset myself, so dunno.

the SMS patch they say is a fix for those first few garbled/strange characters you get when receiving a long sms from phones like Nokia

SMS character counter is already working in the previous rom version (1.3.7.8?).... there's a trick though...when replying or composing a new sms, place any single number in the Cc field, then start composing your message...you can now see the character counter at the top-left corner....then just delete that number in the Cc field before sending the message :)

This may sound like a bit of a stupid question, but can you put the SAP ROM on Orange SPVs? Will this also upgrade the bootloader and is it possible to install the old rom back onto the phone even if the bootloader is updated?
