Guest jofsof Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 I am amased I cannot get to the "Save Target As.." using the SPV's explorer. It seems such a short step in software terms for large returns. Am I missing something ? Why should I have to download files to my pc first ? I'm not just talking about CAB files, but HTML documents, ebooks etc. Is this to prevent users from clogging the network with large downloads ? :?:
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 Sounds like a reasonable explanation... except O gets paid to keep that network full :) Perhaps it's users filling up the phone with huge files they can't use... then calling O CS and whining about the phone not working anymore, that O is worried about?
Guest benjymous Posted March 20, 2003 Report Posted March 20, 2003 There is a sort of work around Any file you open will get saved into windowstemporary internet files on the phone. You can then use one of the many available explorer tools to copy and paste this file somewhere else
Guest jofsof Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 As far as I can see Orange (O) get paid £6 a month no matter what you download. I suspect this feature will become available when we are charged per Mbyte. Thanks ! I have tried the work around, it does allow me to save some files. :?
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I think you'll find that, even now when they don't charge per amount, their game is to fill those pipes as much as possible, just to show to investors and shareholders that their investments in GPRS were not wasted.
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I find it extremely hard to believe that they will add this function when the 6pound period is over. It's just something MS missed when they made PIE. Wyatt
