De-certify your spv, so you can use any s/ware?

I've seen the method on coolsmartphone.com , but do be honest it looks a bit complecated to me! (yes b4 you ask I am F.I.K)

Also when you download s/ware where should you put it (on mem card?)

Does it have to go in a certain place for it to work or can you just go to the file explorer and install it or click on it to make it work?

Thanx

THe easiest way to de-certify your phone is to use a cool little program called DecHelp, from Will.

Click Search in the list of icons at the top of this page, and type "DecHelp" in the search field... Click search, and read the threads that will be returned. Alternatively, look in the Articles section for something about Automatic Software Unlocking or Automatic De-Certifying, I believe there is a complete How-To there. (The link to the software if also in those threads :) )

It's easy to use, works very well, and we will only be able to help you AFTER you've tried it, if it fails. ok?

Software should go on the card, rather than on the phone, yes.

As for installing software, again a search will reveal that there are two ways : if it is in a .cab file, then you need to launch the cab file. Either with a file explorer, or by creating a shortcut to it in your IPSM>Windows>Start Menu, when you are docked to the PC. It will then autoinstall, and once that is done, the cab file will dissapear. You will have to remove any shortcuts you created by hand.

If it is already an executable, than put it on the card, and add a shortcut to the executable in your start menu.

first of all Welcom to the site :)

Now you've com to the right place here's a link

to the Articles section and the topic to De-cert

And with software it is best to install apps, games etc on the storage card.

Each app has it's own requirements to how and where to install them, so the best thing is to find something you like and ask away.

normaly the place where you find the app will give instructions anyway.

Hope this helps

Have you tried reading the thread in which you found the software?

If you know how to do a Hard Reset already, using the software is fairly straightforward, as the software guides you step by step, and does both techy bits, modifying the files, and pasting them on the phone.

Reading the description of the process by hand in the Articles section, will also give you a good feel for what the software is doing, and help understand the instructions.

Ok this is wot happened,

Tried to do the hard reset , did it how it tell you to on the coll webisite,

Erased the ipsm, but couldnt find the bit where it send end so couldnt get the 3 colours up like it said, so I turned it off and on again, it still works but also I losed the sync with the comp and have had to amke a new one

What haapened?

What happened is you just did a letter-perfect hard reset!

Congratulations. 8)

The "end" option is absent from newer versions of the phone (updated ones, that is), so turning it off and on again is the right procedure.

while it's rebooting (for the first time after the Hard Reset, you'll have to do it again :) ), and just when it gets to the blue Smartphone 2002 screen (after the Orange Sunset Screen) is when you'll need to put it in the cradle for the second time and let the DecHelp program finish its magic.

So now that you know how to do a Hard Reset, just fire up DecHelp V2, and follow the instructions!

The basic idea is :

0. Start DecHelp

1. Put phone on cradle, on and normal, when DecHelp asks you to.

2. DecHelp copies the files to the PC and modifies them.

3. DecHelp requests that you remove the phone, and do a hard reset.

4. When at blue screen during first reboot, put phone back in cradle.

5. Ignore ActiveSync, ignore messages from windows about new USB devices.

6. When DecHelp reports files copied, click on end (in DecHelp).

7. Let phone finish boot.

Viola!

Good luck!

Do what again hard reset?

Or turn the phone off via taken the battery out?

Also how many file does it copy over after you put it back in the cradel?

When I did it just kept going for ages and then I stopped it cos I didnt think it was right/

It just needs to copy the files once, it's ok if it does it many times.

It should report success : "files copied : 15:03:28" or something similar. Once it has, you can stop it. Your phone is decerted.

You will need to perform a hard reset everytime you try to decert, and after erase IPSM, holding the power button is enough to start the reboot, no need to remove the battery.
