Guest ricmoo2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Check out this Video Microsoft Mobility Tour Skip ahead to about 39 Minutes and a microsoft guy comes out, and talks about the Smartphone Platform and customising it, and pretends to customise a tanager for Bill, he start with a plain homescreen and then thinks Bill must be missing his Xbox when he is away from home, so he pretends to create a new homescreen for him, and guess what pops up? Now I'm all for using other peoples efforts but at least credit the guy who ACTUALLY designed it Jay-z2k and don't pretend to have just come up with the idea yourself..... keep watching though, because i saw him play Links golf on the Tanager, and the speed of it was superb, it was graphically perfect as the origional, now where is it??????????????? Enjoy the vid Richard
Guest kingdom master Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 the video file has no pic what codec does it need?

Don't be so utterly silly. They say the word "rich" too much to be strictly tasteful :)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 It would be nice to get a hold of some of the SDK's they are using there :) And the iPaq 5450 rocks btw ;)
Guest Gorskar Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 NB - the tanager demonstration starts at about 45mins, to save you listening to any more of bill gates spouting off then you need to. Very cheeky with that homescreen stealing. Perhaps Jay-2k should ask for a tanager or something for compensation! (or perhaps they already have some deal we dont know about, and they gave him a fat wad of cash to pretend it was their work. I doubt it somehow though) Wonder when we are likely to see that links game? Presumably it must be just about ready if they are demonstrating it already.

Guest Ed Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Hahah... Imagine making a professional business presentation and saying "we got this theme from a boy on the internet who calls himself EMINEM_BOY_69"
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Links is coming soon from Hexacto... P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 the video file has no pic what codec does it need? Same here :) I'm running Xp home and I get a codec error
Guest Simon Desser Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 They said on this video that you can email "xml Homescreens" straight into the phone. Has anyone done this? I emailed a Homescreen to my mate's SPV, but it just shows up as a ".att" we tried renaming it, and put it into the right folder, but it wouldn't show up in the list. Did we miss something obvious? Thanks Simon
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 You should send it as a .hme file, then it'd work... P
Guest kevlar Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 The video needs the windows media 9 codec, strange though because when I clicked the link media player downloaded the codec for me. Kevlar
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Did it for me now  don't know why it did not do it earlier
Guest Simon Desser Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 "]You should send it as a .hme file, then it'd work... P All I did was browse to the Home folder using IA File Manager, selected the Homescreen file I wanted, and emailed it from there. Using explorer apps the files show up as "xxxxx.home.xml" Are you saying I should have copied it, then renamed it, then emailed it, or should what I did have worked? Cheers Simon
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 .hme's are basically installers (like .cab's for applications) for homescreens, you'd have to find an original distributed in that way or package the homescreen up in a .hme on your PC first... :)
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 "]Links is coming soon from Hexacto... P Do you know anything about Worms World Party??? :) Thanks, Wyatt
