Guest rklosinski Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I use task in outlook, and found the version in the smartphone to be very poor. MS has included a fairly nice one with the smartphone SDK. I have modified it a bit and its available for download. If you need any features added, just email me and i'll try to add them. It does not have an installer yet, so you must manually move it to the smartphone and add a link in the start menu directory. Rich
Guest v1nn1e Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Where is it available? I dont understand?
Guest omar_g Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I'd be very intrested.... If I could find it :)
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Yeah, that'd be great! Thanks, Wyatt
Guest fraser Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 Ditto, I use the task stuff as well. The current bundled software is pretty basic, and I've been hoping for an update to this for a while. Please share your improvements!
Guest rklosinski Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 Sorry for not posting the link. I tried to attached it to the message, but somehow it did not work. Anyway, try the following: http://www.klo-group.com/auction/poomtasks.exe
Guest v1nn1e Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 Does it have to be in any specific folders. I ran the program, started fine, but when i click new nothing happens. I can go into options and play with the spinner thats about it. Can you give advice on how to use please. thanks!
Guest omar_g Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 It doesnt appear to do anything over the built in task manager?
Guest fraser Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Well, it appears to be aware of the "due date" field, something the existing task util is sadly lacking. Unfortunatly, I couldn't check to see if this field can be altered (that's what I'm hoping for, tasks are useless without due-dates), and the app was a bit sluggish and a little bit buggy. Not bad for a first go tho. I'm hoping for further updates to this, to complement the whole MS Outlook suite syncing. What I'd like to see in a task util are the following feaures: - "completed", "not started", "progressing", "waiting" and "deferered" states (as outlook has) - due dates, with optional highlight of that task in the list a day or two before - ability to sort by name, status or due date - importance/priority, again as outlook currently has - incorporate start date, so that future tasks can be filtered out
Guest rklosinski Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 The easiest way to install pomtasks.exe is to use activesync's explore feature. Put the file in ipsmprogram files or Storage CardProgram Files (if you have a stroage card installed). After the file is copied to its destination, right-click on it and select 'Create Shortcut'. A new file will be made "Shortcut to poomtasks.exe'. Drag this file into the ipsmwindowsstart menu directory. Finally, rename it to Task.Ink. Hope this helps. The program is a bit sluggish, at least you will be able to sort on Priorty, Status, Subject, Start Date, or Due Date and display active tasks or all tasks. Im not sure why is slow. This program came with the Smartphone sdk, but im going to try to improve it. thanks rich
Guest Shuflie Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Its much better than the supplied task program but still not perfect. Allows you to see the subject field of a task as well as start date and due date. Doesn't seem to allow creating a new task or editing an existing one though. Pressing the action button takes you to an other screen showing the details of the task highlighted but you loose most of the task subject, also pressing the edit softkey just drops you back to the task list. Forgets what options were selected when you exit the program. If you get these problems sorted it will be a great addition to anyones startmenu.
Guest rklosinski Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 Pressing the action button brings another window that allows editing of the task. pressing the MENU button allows the selections of EDIT, NEW, DELETE and OPTIONS. Im not sure why some users are not finding these features... there are only two menu buttons.
Guest Shuflie Posted March 25, 2003 Report Posted March 25, 2003 I can find the buttons and press them, they just don't seem to work properly. Edit will display the highlighted task as well as pressing action but neither option lets me change anything. New does nothing here. Delete works. Options works but does not save the options set when the program exits. I'm running a decerted phone with the UK update if that makes any difference.
Guest yoos Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 Hi! Any recent update on this one anyone? I would really like a better task list that will sync with Outlook. My wish list would also include the ability to enter and sync notes in the tasks and sort by (or display only a specific) category(ies). One more question if you don't mind... If I install the one in this thread and don't like it, can I uninstall it and everything will be as it was before? I don't want to mess up my phone (I'm a newbie)... Thanks!
Guest v1nn1e Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 It is not a cab file, its just an executable, it runs from that one file. As long as u know where u put it, you can delete it with ease using a file browser.
Guest yoos Posted April 27, 2003 Report Posted April 27, 2003 Thanks! I like it better than the one that came with the phone.... I can at least view the notes in the tasks (at least the first X characters anyways)....
Guest ntx-mac Posted May 3, 2003 Report Posted May 3, 2003 hi I really wonder what's happening with this program. Any news? cheers ...
Guest rklosinski Posted May 4, 2003 Report Posted May 4, 2003 I was working on it, but recieved another design contract that pay $$. Want i'd really like is a way to have the task appear in the main page, but cannot find enough information on how to write plug-ins. rich
Guest gsc Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 Hi, the download link seems to be broken, does anyone know where this can be downloaded from ? Look like exactly what Ive been needing! Thanks! gsc
