Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Excellent, looks and plays very smoothly :) The keypresses can be a little unresponsive at times though...
Guest JaToAc Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 thanks for that one :) great and having a lot of fun playing it, and that's only v0.01a  thanks... looking forward to the final version.

Guest samdb74 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 brilliant stuff - looking forward to the finished version
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Yeah i noticed the ghosts bug, bit manic trying to avoid them if they're drifting thorugh wall's and such :) Even so, nice work so far.
Guest Devil Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Just about to delete my gameboy version!
Guest Deemon Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 guess ill scrap my version then :-( all that work wasted heres the sounds that i made from Mame again..but chopped up and made to repeat where neededpacsounds.zip
Guest Flash Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 love it! oh, how it reminds me of the good ol' days ;-)
Guest Gorskar Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Very cool. Looking forward to future versions!
Guest midnight Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 hmmmm, i think more communication is needed between the modaco game developers, that way we can prevent duplicate work (thats why i decided to make a brand new version and not just re-create the original). maybe start a games in progress thread? also another thread thats a place to throw around ideas for games people want to see, eg. i'd like to see simple games like galaga, phoenix and asteroids and more complex ones: uridium, pacland (ooh that would be so damn cool, big project tho) and great giana sisters anyways, just an idea, i just feel sorry for Deemon Rant over.

Guest Paul [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Don't apologise, I agree, a bit of competition does the scene good :) P
Guest midnight Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 i aint havin a go m8  i just think that maybe all the games developers can get their heads together on this forum and we can get more games out that way without any wasted effort :)
Guest Flash Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Well, I'll happily play any / all versions!
Guest JaToAc Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 midnight: uridium, cool game, played it last night on my c64, would be nice to have it on the spv... (reminds me of better times) and great giana sisters would be cool too (if me remebers right it was rainbow arts against nintendo, sad story)
Guest Deemon Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 "]Don't apologise, I agree, a bit of competition does the scene good :) P As Paul said you dont need to apologise...but it would have been nice to know that someone else was going to make it...i mean, i had posted the graphics up on the forum a week ago..i made my intentions clear that i was going to make the game...so why not just say that another version is being made..i can stop and work on it and do something else.... I do think a Apps in development list would be a good idea(not just for this reason either) that said its a great version of pacman....well done
Guest davy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Apps in development sounds good to me. The more apps the better and it seems a waste of time for you clever people to be developing the same ones. Worthy of a poll to see how many users would like such a list? davy.
Guest muff Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 As Paul said you dont need to apologise...but it would have been nice to know that someone else was going to make it...i mean, i had posted the graphics up on the forum a week ago..i made my intentions clear that i was going to make the game...so why not just say that another version is being made..i can stop and work on it and do something else.... I do think a Apps in development list would be a good idea(not just for this reason either) that said its a great version of pacman....well done It isn't something I've been planning, I woke up yesterday (thursday) and just started it then sorry, but I didn't see the previous stuff you'd posted had I realised that you were working on a version, I would have contacted you I'm curious now, how far along were you? was it also a direct arcade port?anything worth putting up? I'd love to see your stuff sorry once again muff
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 How about putting both together? you must have different parts that would make the overall game better. any chance of ingame sounds? Deemon?
Guest Deemon Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 ah well...no matter now ... all my graphics are here http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=6209 ive posted my sounds on the first page of this post.. coding had been started but hadnt got that far... if theres anything you can use be my guest.... PM me if you need anything.. btw..Im impressed that you did that in 2 days...
Guest muff Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Deemon: looking at the map shots, were they from one of the sub arcade clones or just making shiny new maps from scratch? the sprites for the player + ghosts etc look nice in high colour - but they'd be a bugger to alpha against each other (although gx does support alpha maps I suppose) the bubble-bobble styled remake also looks interesting are you coding anything else at the mo? or have I just shot your pride and joy ;) as for the 2 days aspect, I reckon there's still a couple left before I'd consider it complete - gotta learn Fmod first - that'll take a coupla minutes :) look forward to seeing your future stuff muff
Guest midnight Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 muff, Deemon is a graphic artist not a coder  maybe you two could get together and make some games, and if you need any help i'm available aswell, just ask (by the way, theres another mockup of 'bub and bob in pacland' on my site  ) ps. i reckon you two should make galaga or mr do (one of my favs) :)
Guest Deemon Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 The maps are done from scratch but are obviously the same layout as the arcade game... the second map is from Mrs Pacman... Muff...you said about GX ... do you work for EA ? Mr Do would be good.. one of my faves... as Midnight said...Im an artist...a friend was doing the coding...it was the only thing im working on...but ill have a think about doing something else now
Guest muff Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Muff...you said about GX ... do you work for EA? :) no. sorry meant the gapi drawing functions - it's called gx.dll in the windows folder things like Mr Do, Galaga, Donkey Kong - all the old school stuff would be nice can all be coded up fairly quickly, and are good fun for a quick blast when I've got my version of pacman to a state I'm happy with I'll think about what to do next will keep you all posted muff
