Guest davy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 At http://www.gss.co.uk/NoteMaker.htm (found on coolsmartphone website) Have downloaded it but yet to test it. davy.
Guest davy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Installed it and it works well (on xp and spv). Only prob I have found so far is that all notes are stored in ipsm/windows/start menu/my notes. I tried moving this folder to SD card and creating a shortcut to it but notes would not then open on spv. Any ideas on getting the notes to store on SD card would be appreciated. All in all though this looks like the app I have been waiting for since spv launch. davy.
Guest Ethanol Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Definately a great app. Only thing missing in beta version are the help files and some rarely used characters (unless of course you are Danish). Maybe the issue you raise above will be addressed in the final release, as I can't find a way of saving on the sd card.
Guest davy Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Yes definitely a great app. I'll send them an E-mail suggesting/requesting card storage on their final release. davy.
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 It seems a bit silly, though, wouldn't it be better to be able to write notes on the SPV itself? Wyatt
Guest davy Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Don't know if signed or not but website does claim it works on both locked/unlocked phones. davy.

Does anyone know how to tweak the registry to point at a diferent folder on the SD card. I looked with Regedit but so far can't find a smartnotes key folder. Any ideas?
Guest spider Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 seems like a great program, BUT is it possible to write messages directly on the phone instead of first connecting the phone to the computer and then write on the comp. and THEN transfere it.... I really hope that it is possible to write on the phone as well..otherwise I think it is more or les useless (for me at least)........a least it is not "smarter" than what I do today...make a new SMS, write the message and store it in the "temporary" folder (I think it is called temporary in english..)
Guest davy Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Reply from creator. Sounds good. From: [email protected] Sent: 22 March 2003 12:21 To: ? Subject: RE: Smartnotes David, Many thanks for your kind words. I’m glad you like it! I will try to incorporate your storage card idea into a version of the software and will let you know when it’s complete. Kind Regards, Mark -----Original Message----- From: ? Could I suggest that for your final release you allow users to store their notes on their storage cards. The IPSM has very limited memory and it would be much better to store notes on the storage cards to keep this restricted memory as free as possible. Regards, David.
Guest davy Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 spider, I've sent another E-mail to Mark to get an answer to the issue you raised. Will post response when I get it. davy.
Guest davy Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 spider, not good news this time. From: [email protected] Sent: 22 March 2003 17:01 To: ? Subject: RE: Smartnotes David, There is already a freeware application for unlocked phones called NotBad which lets you do this. I have not tried it myself but it does let you take notes on the phone. You could probably store notes as draft mail messages on the phone if you wanted to make a note of something. The thinking behind SmartNotes is that people want to carry round documents, instructions, lists, mails, minutes, notes etc on the phone. I think it would be very tedious trying to type in a long note – it’s bad enough trying to type SMS messages!! While this situation may change with the cloth keyboard, I do not currently plan to do this. It would also require installing an application on the phone itself which means I would have to get the software certified etc. Regards, Mark -----Original Message----- From: ? Sent: 22 March 2003 16:03 To: smartnotes Subject: Smartnotes Mark, Thank you for your prompt reply to my earlier query. Another question:- Is it possible in future releases to allow users to write notes directly to the phone without having to link up to their PC? Thanks, David
