Browsing "clever" WAP sites problem...?

There are a couple of WAP sites I want to be able to browse from my SPV. Unfortunately, it seems that the sites are being clever and trying to determine the capability of the device and choosing the content accordingly. So instead of the WAP site I get the fully blown HTML site.

Is there anyway to force the SPV to load the WAP version?

Some examples are :

I'm having the same problem with AOL on my mobile. I refuses to enter the WAP site because my smartphone is too smart and has IE. CS at AOL said that I can't force a WAP page to show - so i assume it'll be the same for others too?

I am actually developing a wapsite for a customer, we have a browser detect script, and the only way i can see the wapsite on my SPV is by typing the actual wap URL.

But for some reason i can't follow any links on this wapsite, and the phone is sooooo slow when wapping. Nokia 6310 works like a charm on the wapsite though! Its very odd!

From within IE - Menu - Options

then Connections - make sure "detect automatically" is not ticked.

Then all your WAP, HTML etc sites will work. The auto detection is rubbish and makes Yahoo and Orange WAP sites fall over

If the site is addressed wsf:// rather than http:// the browser should treat the address as WAP.

Using wsf:// as the protocol in Pocket IE causes an error "this URL is not properly formatted... blah blah" :)

Try also WebWAPSelect, available from my site. A little unreliable at times but does work on some "clever" WAP sites.
