Guest HelloDave Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Bit of a weird one this, and i'm sure my last SPV didn't do it. When the screen is switched off (but the phone is on) and you plug in the camera without touching any button the screen comes on, but the bottom third is static "snow" (think of an untuned TV picture), and after a few seconds the screen slowly redraws itself to my normal homescreen. If you look very carefully when you press a button to wake the phone up (without camera) or put it in the cradle with the screen off snow appears very briefly before it's redrawn, but you have to be looking for it. It's not a serious problem, just quite weird - it looks like the screen has been disconnected for a moment when the camera is plugged in! I guess this is something to do with how the SPV draws the screen, and obviously plugging in the camera slows it down. Anyone else had this problem?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Only time i've noticed it is when i had one of the logging flags set on my old bootloader. When i turned it on i got "static" for a fraction of a section before it listed the boot option flags and progressed onto the blue SmartPhone screen. I didnt really think much of it thogh as it was as i was turning it on... edit- i can recreate the "snow" with my camera as well btw :)
Guest MrSpoons Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 had it a couple of times as well. the thing thats bugging me now is my screen has gone more of a yellowy colour over the past few weeks and it's definately duller than it used to be
Guest yatpeak Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I've never noticed it, but then, I don't use the camera much. Wyatt
Guest mike-oh Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 slightly of topic, but does anyone else get colour "straining" in/on their screen? I think it might be something to do with the plastic screen fascia on the phone rather than the screen itself though.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I had noticed that as well, looks like a thin film of oil has got inbetween the screen and LCD.
Guest madu Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Mono, can you expand on the bootloader flags a little please?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 This was covered a while back in the SIMunlock thread (before the unlocker was released). On bootloaders earlier than v.97 and .98 there was a bootflags option in the bootloader, if you changed any from default it listed these at boot over the Orange Sunset screen. There we aout 6 options, i cant remember what they all did now though.... I had mine set to log at boot, obviously i havent done since i applied the UK update though...
Guest HelloDave Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 slightly of topic, but does anyone else get colour "straining" in/on their screen? Seems to happen for me when my SPV has been out in the cold and I take it into the warm. Doesn't last for long, but the first time it happened I thought i'd have to send my SPV back :)
Guest Syvwlch Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Could it be strain @the junction between screen on plastic cover?
Guest cepheus1 Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 Yep...I get that too! But for me it happens if I have my headphones in and press the little button behind the microphone when the screen has turned off. It is really wierd looking though
