Dont know if this question has been asked before, but I could not find it when I searched for it.. Anyway;

Anyone know if there is a third party sms letter counter avail anywhere? I just hate it when I manage to type 162 letters and on the 2'nd msg that pop up on my girlfriends phone is ---> ..

Life would be so much more easy with a counter :)

;) Regards, Tony

There is one in the second Danish update but it means you can't (?) de-certify your phone.

Alternatively our SMS service when launched will feature a character counter.

In case you don't know about it, it will enable you to send SMS over GPRS for far less than Orange charge.

Danish SMS counter aren't the greatest tool i know, because if you go to your SMS inbox and press new messege from there, the counter won't disapear. It only does if you go to your contacts and then use the joystick to chose SMS on a contact, and then press the action button. (Plz tell me if im wrong, and there is a solution to this)

I gues that the counter will be in the next UK update to... But then you probertly can't unlock the UK phones eighter...

Isn't it just much harder to unlock with the second DK update? I didn't think that there was no longer a way...

Thanks,

Wyatt

I just thougth that no one actually had found a way that worked yet?

I just hope that orange kick themself in theit arse and take away that stupid certify thing...

If you speak danish take a look on 4smartphone.dk, they actually mean that Orange/Microsoft loos money on it..

there is not an actual way to decert DK2 :)

There is a sort of workaround but that involves using the DK1

update.

Would it be possible to find the letter counter within the update and install it separately?

Thanks,

Wyatt

SMS COUNTER ON ORANGE UK SPV - Guy @ microsoft came to orange today to answer staff q's on the SPV he had SMS character counter but still only comes up if you scroll through contacts and then select sms - if you run outlook (inbox) it doesn't bring up the character support - the MS guy didn't notice till i pointed it out to him. - something MS are working on. He also had an orange SPVx/SPVe100 still name not sure - spvx i thing is better - or maybe waiting for another phone to come out with built in camera for SPVx. - the spv cradle doesn't fit with the spvx but the flex keyboard does and its easy enough to use too. Only other bit of info i have is that Smartphone2003 is out soon and SPV customers will be able to update their software to 2003 model - so not left behind! - this only available after orange test!!!! so lets say this time next year!

Well this is good news - first time I believe I've heard that this will be available as an upgrade to SPVs

Orneta Notepad is a free app with a character counter. It allows you to type text and then send it as an SMS from within the program.

Think the problem with it is that you have to type in the number you're sending the SMS to, as it doesn't use the phone's contacts list yet, although that may have been addressed in a later version than the one I have installed, have a look and find out here:

Have to app-unlock to use it though

The Planus app has a character counter as well... ;)

Off course you can de-certify your phone if you've got the danish update 2... On that Orange site that was launched a couple of weeks ago where you could decertify your phone if you were a developer... That works on the DK 2 update...
