It's available on my web site. The following changes have been made:

- Added IR functions. Please note that I only tested with a laptop under WinXP and with a T68i. It works fine. But bugs may appear with other devices. Note that I'm using Obex for the transfer. So the remote device has to be obex compliant.

- Added Properties function

- Arrow icon is displayed correctly for shortcuts

- Created a true About box

- Added registration dialog

Please give me feedback if you try IR functions. I'm intersted by working and non working device so I can fix the problems and get a list of compliant ones.

Download is here

Jacoch, I love it! Infrared sending and receiving now works well (and fast) using my Desktop PC (XP) with an infrared adapter. :)

I can recieve files via infrared from a Nokia 7650, but I can't send them.

One feature I think would be great for future versions would be to be able to "Select All" or "Mark All" files in a specific folder, and to have a check box to tick next to files to mark specific ones. This way you could send multiple files via infrared or email, or just move them to another directory in one go. It would be very useful for sending pictures, as at the moment, if I want to email 3 pictures, I have to send 3 seperate emails! (In my opinion this is a very good argument for having a "Zip" tool on this phone)

All in all I think Smart Explorer and Task Manager are wonderful!! and I look forward to being able to send you a few quid! ;)

Thanks

Simon.

Its good.

I like the tools so you can page up/down (Was using 0.2a before).

Not too keen on the $5 reg nag box... but will prob register a later version when I get round to it.

Gotta keep jacoch financed so he can keep developing decent software.

Nice1

Dave :)

Sorry! I've just realised you CAN select multiple files to Copy or Cut :)

but whilst it looks like it would work for infrared sending or emailing, it actually only sends one file, even though a few are selected.

Haven't got this new version yet. With the old, you can't delete a selection of files. I tries selecting some files and then deleting, but only deleting one of them.

I have decided not to allow the deletion of multiple files. It's actually a choice. I don't want users to delete accidentaly files. But it seems that most users do prefer being able to do it. So I will add this feature in next version and display a complete confirmation dialog with all file that will be deleted.

Regarding IR transfer, I will improve the management in next version. This version is intended to get feedback on compatibility.

And finally, I have spent hours trying to send multiple files as email attachement. I didn't find a way to make it work. The API works fine, I get no error and no exception, but only one file is attached to the email. There is nothing in SDK saying it's impossible to make this work, but I didn't succeed. A lot of Pocket Outllook API are not available in Smartphone 2002 and documentation is incomplete. So maybe it's impossible to do this. I've posted a question on M$ dev newsgroup and never got an answer. But I will come back to this problem as soon as Smart Explorer is over.

If it turns out to be impossible to send multiple files by email, might a "Zip" function be an option, because then you would only be emailing one file :?:

BIG BUG FOUND WITH PROPERTIES FUNCTION

I just found that if you apply the properties on a folder, it is changed to a file. I forgot a flag in my function.

DON'T USE PROPERTIES FUNCTION ON FOLDERS

I apologize for this bug. I didn't notice it earlier. A new version will be available today.

If you have had this problem, please contact me. I have a small patch that can restore the file as a folder. So sorry guys

Jacoch, sorry if I sound obsessed with emailing multiple files, but it sounds like your "BUG" could be a workaround :?:

Create a new folder and copy some pictures in to it. Use the properties function on this folder, thus making it a file. Email the file to someone else with an SPV, they run your patch on the file, restoring it to a folder with the pictures inside :) :?:

Un i dunno if this is just myself that has this issue but i was running a previous version, and it the IR was working lovely, sending files to and fro from my P800, but on this version a4 i can't do it anymore ?

Would that be becasue of the IR change ?

Its a shame as i did send a lot between them, it was admittedly very slow tho.

I'll certainly have this when the bug is sorted.

Question: when the .cab is executed, will it just overwrite a previous version of smartexplorer, or will this need to be deleted manually once a4 is installed?

It tell you what would be nice - the ability to select files and create shortcuts which then could be cut'n pasted elsewhere.

Or am I dreaming?

New version is available. I have made some additional changes after reading your comments. The changes are:

- Fixed bug of version 1.0a4

- Added the ability to delete all files/folders in the selection. The old way to delete file has been kept

- Properties dialog now displays folder size

- Improved dramatically speed of IR when receiving files.

Many thanks for your feedback. Download is still here.

Great new version, IR is great :) . I have noticed when sending between two SPV's that the one receiving the file doesn't seam to know when the file has been completely sent, it just sits there saying receiving file. If you press cancel it goes back to the browser view but the phone runs so slow for about 5 mins.

When you view / run the received file it is complete so has transferred without any problems. Should I wait longer for confirmation that the file has been received successfully or is it a bug.

Cheers

Allan

Seems to be a bug. The problem is probably on the Send IR function. The strange thing is that this function completely rely on Smartphone 2002 API. Will have a look asap.

I have realized two setups that can be run on Windows to ease the installation. They are available on the web site.

Nice piece of software ... tried it for the first time this weekend ... much better than All-Explorer !

A question, when copying files, there doesn't appear to be any confirmation that the file has indeed been copied / moved .... (Maybe I'm too used to 'Windoze' - where I get the File copied dialouge on screen). I spent 10 minutes & multiple attempts last night moving (copying) a file from 1 folder to another, not realising that it had been done on the first attempt !! Perhaps if the SPV 'auto-refreshed' (is that possible ?) ... I would have seen the file had been copied.

How easy would it be to add a simple confirmation ? Say just a message in the status bar, or a 1 second alert / pop-up window ?

Other than that ... it is superb ! IR works well copying files from my 7650 to SPV and vice-versa. Well done Jacoh !

P.S. Above comments are not moans / groans either - Pls don't take them this way !

Lycra, it does auto-refresh and adds the file at the end of the folder list of files. It plays a sound too if you have system volume on and appropriate sounds set in the settings. Where is that Windows confirmation that a file has been copied/moved?>?? Never ever seen that! And I woulod find that annoying... Just make sure you deselect files # after each action, so next time you're copying something else it won't take previously selected files..

Cheers for that ! Gotta admit my SPV didn't play any sounds - (probably my fault there) .. but I'm pretty sure my SPV didn't auto-refresh in this instance !

After pressing * to select the file, then what is it .. 1 (from memory) to cut, I went the folder where I was gonna 'paste' the file, pressed the appropiate button (what was it ... 2 or 3 - can't remember right now) - but nothing happened !

Well I say nothing happened ..... my SPV didn't auto-refresh, and the file that I had just 'cut' - was still listed in it's original folder ! As I said it took about 10 minutes of trying this again - before I exited SmartExplorer - then went back in & found it had been copied across !

The windows confirmation I was referring to is the pop-up box you get if you're copying a lot of files ... a bit like a PC throwing files to a folder .... (best way I can think of describing it).

I was thinking a maybe a pop-up window/box - that closes automatically after 1 second that states "1 file has been copied" or similar !

Well - that's my thought anyway :-)

Cheers
