Guest Fuchikoma Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Anyone know if this might be possible in the future. I'd really love to be able to put my SIM in my old T39m but still be able to boot up the SPV to get hold of some contacts and the like. Any thoughts on this? Fuchikoma - small robots, great results
Guest Cent Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Dont know if you should be able to boot a phone without being able to use it as such ....
Guest Fuchikoma Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Well, you can turn off the "radio" functions in it, so... Also I'm not too keen on having other people dictate how I should use my phone. Why _shouldn't_ I be able to boot it without a SIM card?!? Fuchikoma - small robots, great results
Guest Cent Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 I suppose you got a point ... I just can't see them making it a bug with all the bugs the phone has got.
Guest Rob.P Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Also I'm not too keen on having other people dictate how I should use my phone. Why _shouldn't_ I be able to boot it without a SIM card?!? You should be used to be used to other people running your life that's what comes of having a government, society tells you what to do on a regular basis, the fact that your phone is following suit should not concern you
Guest Cent Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Btw. this feature is available with every standard PDA. They work without Sim card. You might want to get one of those if you don't like the phone part.
Guest spacemonkey Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Btw. this feature is available with every standard PDA. They work without Sim card. Good point, but all standard PDAs are PDAs with a phone built in. This is a phone with PDA functionality. The design philosophy is that it should be first and foremost a phone (although that doesn't seem to totally pan out in some "features".) And also, how much time do people genuinely need to use this with no SIM? You could always get a dodgy pay as you go SIM and put that in the phone when you don't wan't to use your main SIM.
Guest Cent Posted December 9, 2002 Report Posted December 9, 2002 Space ... that was my point to him :0 see my posts before ... basically if he wants an SPV without a phone he should get a PDA.
Guest pierre Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 It's a great thing to be able to check the menus, like contacts without a sim card. All Ericsson' mobiles have this facility...
