Guest Paul [MVP] Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 I know, I know, this one is in the manual but... When you try to enter a word that is not in the T9 dictionary, and have to enter it the old way (multitap), it is automagically added to the T9 dictionary. You don't actually have to select anything for that to happen. P
Guest Firaas Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Cheers, was wondering how to add words (specifically "lol") and where my manual went... :D
Guest Firaas Posted November 24, 2002 Report Posted November 24, 2002 Follow up: You need to press space after entering the word on something like MSN :D
Guest coastersteve Posted November 26, 2002 Report Posted November 26, 2002 Now power cycle your phone and it'll forget lol & MSN... Or at least mine does. Steve
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I want it to learn Russian!! Stupid phone ;)
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Definitely forgets words on a power cycle. Additionally, trying to teach it lots of words is bad... (like teaching it russian). The space for learnt words is limited and what it does (allegedly from the docs) is when the space is full and you do a new word it'll forget the least used user word and add your new one. Haven't tried the new update to see if it remembers across a power cycle.
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Sorry for being stupid (after months spent on the forum..), but I assume the power cycle is when you turn it OFF and back ON, right?
Guest spacemonkey Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 correct... not talking hard reset, just normal power off and back on.
Guest martinmacca Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 How about deleting words from the dictionary ? when i was drunk i tried adding some words but spelt them wrong  so when i press 0 to cycle through different words im lookin for, ive got 6 errors on one word that ive got to scroll through b4 i find the word im lookin for
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Haven't tried the new update to see if it remembers across a power cycle. After updating I'm having trouble getting the damn thing to learn any words _at all_ :?
Guest HelloDave Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 It does seem to be luck whether it learns a word or not - it forgets some when you power cycle it but not others!
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 My T9's well and truly up the creek, looks like hard reset time. Again. I've got the Canary diagnostics screen etched on my retina, I've seen the damn thing so many times these last few days ;)
Guest abamara Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Hi guys, This might be in the manual but can I get to use the T9 in any other modes? e.g. filling in appointments, making notes rather than sms? I don't do much sms, you see. :?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Press and hold "#", whenever the "abc" icon is in the title bar. That'll switch between the text input modes.
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Oops sorry, I knew what i meant. Either way its one of the few things actually in the manual so shouldn;t need to be asked really ;)
Guest Thurstan Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Would it be possible to get into the T9 dictionary somehow and manually add new words?
Guest abamara Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Thanks guys! I just used to press the * key once( not press n hold) which just cycles through caps, lowercase and capslock! Thx! 8)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 OSPS do have a bit of a reputation I have to say... In general, online phone shops are good, the biggest problem I find is the networks' own websites, doing deals that put simply nobody else can match. It's a very weird situation... P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I never spend enough for Orange to do me a deal apart from "try another network" :)
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I had to phone Orange for a grumble last week, and got an Indian call centre. The dude clearly couldn't understand what I was trying to tell him, I actually go so frustrated I hung up on him in the end, called back and got a very helpful Geordie lass. Turns out Orange still sucked when it came to dealing with my issue, but that's more and more par for the course nowadays :) P
